Why have they done this now?

Surely its easier to get the lower divisional games played as the police, stewarding and the corporate side of things are virtually non existent.

Its been done to get folk gradually used to the idea that the 19/20 season is over. As I've said countless times protecting the 20/21 season will be the main focus although they won't admit that yet.

Won't happen unfortunately. The financial ramifications for Pl teams ending a season prematurely would be huge. It's also far easier to play 8 games to get a season completed than risk starting another.

If a new season is started anytime before a cure is found there is always the risk of a new outbreak. The idea of a new season having to be cancelled after a few games would destroy football at all levels. Look at the mayhem delaying the last few games has caused.

Next season has far more chance of being wiped with 0 games played than ending the current Pl campaign. I also can't see the cups being finished. They are peripheral comps when it's all said and done, compared to the league.

Not saying you're wrong by any stretch as I dont think you are, but aren't the financial ramifications of not starting a new season also huge, particularly for those who have now finished their leagues? They can't realistically restart until all the other leagues are done and dusted, but without any football they'll just have to wind up. Is that not something the wider footballing community should care more about?

I'm all for getting this season finished, just not at the detriment of others. Is there any realism to the suggestion that whilst all other non leagues remain inactive, the Premier League could maybe fund them in order to finish their own affairs, similarly the EFL but on a much smaller scale? Unprecedented and just an idea that has been floating round my head a few days, but it would ensure both the integrity of the competitions and the long term future of the game. Be something else if the legacy of this pandemic actually could help bridge the relationship between the PL and the non league. Just a thought.

If the higher leagues close up shop than all leagues should do the same!..

So, they shut the higher leagues up without promotion or relegation, the lower divisions do the same, and with promotions and relegations than it should be for all!..

Whoever had the idea to shut the lower leagues out don't deserve the job/power they have!..

And the Championship has voted to finish the season at the best and safest time possible!..

Yeah the FA have well and truly shafted some of those poor non league clubs. It may turn out to have been the right decision, but should never have been imposed unless a full blanket close down and void of every single league had been agreed upon.

The money and greed has killed football and it's taken a global pandemic to truly underline it. I'm not sure my fondness for the game will be anywhere near what it was when it all returns. It's all just too f-cking grubby for me.

Relation and Promotion involves all the Leagues, you have them coming up the ladder in the hope in years to come they can make the big time!..

Some x-proffi teams are now outside the big times, and this is just feckin things up for anyone hoping to replace the next!..

VAR is another reason why the season has already been tarnished, all VAR has done is expose the obvious bias and favouritism that is rife in football.

Nobody is desperate to tarnish a Pool title win, the season has been tarnished irretrievably already, without the input of rival fans.

The whole season is meaningless, for so many reasons. Hopefully VAR is binned for next season also.
