To the ground and back

With this social distancing possibly going on for another couple of months or so I’ve been using it as an opportunity to get fitter, and the one outdoor exercise a day has been a god send tbh as I’m living on my own at the moment.

With that in mind, and because I’m missing the footy, I’ve decided to run to a different local football ground every Sunday morning for the next few weeks, building up in terms of distance.

Today was the Etihad, even quieter than a match day would you believe, 12.5k round trip in 1hr 8mins which I’m pretty happy with as a starting point!

Then in order of closeness it’s

Hyde United
Maine Road (RIP)
Stockport County
Ashton Curzon and United
United
Oldham

What have people been doing to avoid the cabin fever?

I'm off to the garden centre in a few minutes as apparently they can still open.

I hope someone has started a Grow Your Own Veg Thread before I get back as I have absolutely no experience.

.........and the garden centre was closed despite their website saying it was open.

Amazed at how many were jogging/walking along the banks of the Mersey near Cheadle Bridge.

I live five minutes from Edgeley Park so that wouldn't be much of a run for me. No intention of going anywhere near the Eithad, virus or no virus, and OT would be a hell of a run

I'm still going to work so I'm getting out of the house enough but I can imagine how difficult it is for those who aren't getting out and the temptation just to drive somewhere. As long as you're in your car, it shouldn't be an issue anyhow but then you are increasing the need to use fuel pumps.

I think a big issue with people driving is that you get people flocking to beaches, beauty spots etc and it makes social distancing nigh on impossible. And that's why they want people to stay local, more than anything

I haven’t travelled by anything other than foot for a week now. Mad when u think about it, not even a long period of time in the grand scheme of things, yet probably the longest time I haven’t been in a car, bus, train etc in my life

Me neither. I would normally walk to work anyway. But haven't been in any form of transportation in 15 days!

In Ireland they have banned any further than 2 miles. This will come into force here soon.

2km, which is 1km shorter than 2 miles
