Firstly, 550 non playing staff? Really????
8th largest club in the world in terms of revenue, but looking for the government to pay for staff to be furloughed whilst Levy earns 7 mill last year and players wages are obscene.
The disparity between football and front line doctors and nurses in terms of salaries is obscene and it would be great to see Government try to do something to redress the balance. Not sure what they can do, but its sicking to hear of clubs milking this system whilst paying stupid players salaries and eyeing up multi million pound transfers whilst the rest of the world burns.
Some worrying things here

Irrespective of what is happening around the world today there should be a cap on players' wages. Some salaries are obscene.
It will make the game and clubs more sustainable and admission prices more affordable for all.

Spurs have made huge profits relative to other football clubs and I understand that players are frustrated that club have made such profits and yet they have not had pay rises, their wage bill stands at a paltry 179 mill.
Its the fact staff had cuts and not players and the fact that club is so bloated to need 550 off field staff.
Its a great initiative by government to try and support companies and staff. Maybe is Spurs didnt have 550 staff to start with.....
We're going to see pressure from clubs to finish season as they won't want to lose TV deal money, but also they might have to refund ST holders.
Look at Leeds, is it 5 home matches left, lets say home match is worth about £20 that's £100 per ST holder and 23,000 ST holders means 2.3 million club has to refund.
I'm not sure insurance covers all these losses, some clubs are going to go to teh wall before all this ends.

One really hopes that there is a rest regarding societal values.
How much the really important workers get paid.
More flexibility from companies for staff and working patterns.
Easier/affordable childcare for families.
Somehow addressing teh growing gap between haves and have nots.

Bailouts are largely the socialisation of privately accrued debt on a massive scale. If you play the game and you lose, you should lose, not be bailed out by the taxpayer.
Are you happy saddling your kids and their kids with trillions of pounds worth of debt just so Branson et al can continue to live like emperors?
Funny how Sunak can just turn on the tap when for the last decade they've been cutting away at the very service we all now desperately need just to keep us alive, telling us they have to balance the books.
If this pandemic has shown us anything, it's that the political class, particularly the likes of Johnson and Cummings, are nothing more than cynical uncaring opportunists - and that the great British public are complete f..kwits!

You couldn't make it up.
For the fifth richest country in the world, it's worse than lamentable.
Good old Boris - even getting trashed today by Trump, of all people! Old adage: the people get the government they deserve.
