No furlough for United

Simon Stone @sistoney67
Manchester United have told staff members the club will not be using the government’s furlough scheme.

Simon Stone @sistoney67
In addition, @ManUtd ‘strongly encourage’ employees unable to work from home or had a reduced workload to volunteer time to the NHS or local communities. Club has 900 full-time employees. Also extending ‘goodwill payments’ for approx 950 non-matchday casual workers until 1 June.

Termite getting well wound up by United again.

If only his club had some kind of moral structure to fall back on.

I certainly don't think they are saints. And they may have waited for the Liverpool decision, though I doubt it.
But either way it was a good decision as was the players. So for once I'm proud of my club.

Yeah, United showing they are a people’s club unlike a certain club down the road!!

Good move, it really doesn't seem to be a move that would effect the club that badly all things considered, so it's odd that some PL clubs aren't doing the same.

Anyone actually worked out the rough cost of covering furlough pay for PL clubs?

Well to get a simple number, although it wont be entirely accurate you can multiply the 900 people by £2500, which is the maximum I think. Which is 2.25m per month. Likely many would be getting less than this.

so United fans suddenly think their owners are saints. If you think they weren’t waiting to see what the fallout was from our own poor decision then you’re truly delusional.

I think it was a case of agreeing what was happening with the players wages. The PL squad to agree to a reduction on their wages.

Also praising their players for protecting 70% of their wages in future.

Geniuses.

What are you going on about? There is a world wide pandemic. Thousands of people are dying daily. United players have sacrificed 30% of their wages and donated the money to help the overstretched NHS. And cretins likes like you are using the fact in some pathetic attempt to point score.

You'll never walk alone. Does it actually mean anything to you?

It didn't need confirmation until Liverpool and Spurs did it.
