Just watched her daily press conference re the Coronavirus. Iām not normally her biggest fan but I thought that she provided clarity and strong leadership. This is in contrast to the English politicians.
Stay safe, stay in the hoose š

Great, I mentioned the need for an inquiry a few days ago and it needs to be done ASAP this year. Not kicked down the road like most political issues. š

No-it needs to be done when we can allocate the proper time and resources to it. By all means, other political parties and the public should challenge and ensure that we are heading in the right direction and making the proper decisions just now, but trying to ‘look back’ in the middle of the biggest world incident for generations I don’t think would be correct.

Didn’t say it should be done in the middle of the incident. I am saying it should not go the way that countless inquiries have gone and taken 7 or 8 years to result in a 5000 page report.

I think you’re being optimistic then if you think that getting it done this year is viable then.

‘ It's treating the public like children. Generally we are responsible as a nation and I think we can be trusted to act responsibly. We should be talking about it at least and understand that things can change as we learn.’
To be fair, Sturgeon did talk today-as she has done before-about treating us like adults and having an adult conversation about how we move forward, and they’ve released this document today (and I haven’t had a chance to read it properly) about the next possible steps.

I'll have a read later. Home time.
Have to be honest and say I'm enjoying the much quieter commute

Safe journey.

All politicians are saying that they are learning (lessons) as they go along. These lessons should be collated and we should push for at least an interim report at the end of the year. I think that is realistic and a final report to be produced ASAP afterwards is also realistic. Hold their feet to the fire or they will wriggle away.š

Is Sturgeon making a good job of being honest or is she making a good job of convincing people she is being honest?

Who knows. Wee Nicola, like most top politicians are polished actors as well as liars. That said she is a good deal better than I thought she’d be.

I am assuming that both governments had a 'pandemic action plan' that was pulled out the cupboard? Like big corporations have....big cupboards with manuals outlining what to do and how to do it covering major incidents...?
Of course it would not necessarily cover the COVID clinical case specifically but there should be allowances for each pandemic characteristic. FFS its not as though plenty people weren't warning nor a few false starts with SARS, MERS, Ebola etc.

Well we won't get much mature debate now on what was supposed to be an article about politics.
