Uefa

Issue strong recommendation domestic leagues must finish.

They want leagues to explore different formats to finish.

European qualification must be decided on sporting merit.

If leagues are unable to finish its up to the top leagues to decide on merits.

Thoughts..

Sporting merit, well well well, perhaps the teams still involved in Euro competitions should be awarded the top places for next seasons championships

We appear to meet the exceptional circumstances set out by UEFA so would expect us to be declared champions in the coming days.

Shame, i wanted to finish it on the park so we could celebrate it properly.

Winning on the park makes you champions...being awarded it by default does not

Well, well, well the Swiss proposal looks a lot like the silver proposal put on here weeks ago and shot down. Except theirs runs to 36pages

It will be like these 200 page powerpoints they try to take subs through when they’re coming on. Eyes glazed over, nodding like a car ornament. Whatever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think their plan is possibly workable-but not in Scotland, either financially or from what some would regard as ‘fair’.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you be more specific on both points?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Financially-clubs will struggle to bring players back in for an extended period with no further income coming in. Some of them I think are furloughed, and clubs will need to start paying.

Contracts end up here at the start of June I think?! PFA Scotland have already stated that they won’t be an obstacle to BCD games, but the measures they’ll want in place-contracts, liability for injuries, etc-will make it again a financial burden that I think clubs will either be unwilling or unable to fulfil.

Clubs won’t be happy about having to pay for transport for all their players, where that becomes necessary.

Then we’ve got the games to be played at one stadium. The obvious one you would think would be Hampden, but is that fair on Aberdeen, Ross County, etc? And then you have rangers who have had more home games than Celtic...

Someone will always have a gripe.

To be fair, that’s a very low bar...

Understand, POV.

Clubs would be paying for pre-season from July anyway, surely?

Contract thing I pointed out before but one had to assume that bridge could be crossed viz. FIFA rules then also UEFA competition rules for finishing EL/CL?

Transport is surmountable. FFS Parks isn't going out of business yet.

The games can't be one stadium for pitch integrity issues but outside of deep cleans I'm not sure what the big deal is.

That said, despite the rhetoric from all clubs wanting to finish the season I do not believe there is a will to do it? It all seems like too much hassle, ignoring the fact that start of next season nothing will have changed imho so better get used to it?

I'd like to see it proposed so it can put to bed that the offer is there, the (presumably gov agreed) plan is there, if the time is there and the stuff above is sorted then let's do it. THEN we'll see where the sporting integrity really is. Celtic don't want the title handed to them. Maybe others don't want them the chance to win it unequivocally?

I get most of what you say silver, I just don’t think it’s workable here-and you’ve mentioned a couple of other factors as well.

The Scottish government have already said no training until June 10th. You’ll know better-will that not mean a raft of players out of contract and players’ loan deals finished?! I know what you’re saying about uefa and fifa suggesting a solution to the contracts issue-but ultimately, you can’t force a player to extend his contract without his agreement-and I’m pretty sure the pfa are going to be all over that like a rash.

The longer this season and the chat about it is dragged out, the more difficult it is for them to plan for next season. Sky will be flexible I would think, but they’ll be wanting to make sure they’re taking care of. I think next season will kick off with the Scottish cup getting played out domestically, and the EL and CL getting played in some format.

Anyway, I think we have maybe been fortunate that this year's TV deal is split between Sky and BT? Although Sky have missed 2x OF, the notional loss that is suffered this year is split in two between them so maybe not worth making a fuss about? I see why it's a big deal elsewhere.
