Seeing the world in a different light

Lockdown is hard for everybody, however many are in different situations and I think it’s a human trait to try and make the best of a situation forced upon us.

I’ve noticed a few things during these times that I just wouldn’t of had the time to notice at all.

I have two apple trees in my garden, to be honest, I’ve always seen them as annoying, every September I have to pick up hundreds of apples, however during these times, I’ve noticed the way they change through the spring months heading towards the summer, March, the leaves come back, April a wonder blossom, which in a light wind scatters a beautiful pink across my lawn.

I’ve been doing a lot of walking, I actually saw a deer in the woods, we had a stand off, as if to say, ‘oh, a human, what do we do here then’ – wildlife has really taken off, this time of the year is probably the best time to appreciate our wonderful world, so enjoy.

I’m becoming more camp … all of a sudden I’m not in sweaty boxing gyms laughing loudly with the lads, or taking the micky out of my mates grrrrrrr, or stood on a rugby field with my chest pumped out because I’ve had cross words with an opposition coach - I’m appreciating nature

What things have you lot noticed that you’d be too busy to notice normally?

I started taking walks along our waterfront during the evenings and really appreciating the beautiful sunsets, the calm ripple of the river and the smell of sea air. I've loved a good sunset for ages, but I wish I had done more of these walks before all this started. I was probably in the pub though. I just hope we get the good weather back soon so I can carry on.
