Cheesy, if you take the core of a team away, the performance always drops. If you remove a key player you can and will affect results. See Gers results when Alfie was sidelined. A talisman, similar to the pros bought with EBT money in the period referenced.

If Gers big players weren't purchased it is common sense results would be different. Points totals would undoubtedly be lower. Look how Larson's return to the Celtic team changed our fortunes. See the difference Griffith's goals have had or Edouards as examples. All three in different seasons positively increasing Celtic's points totals. Without these three Celtic's success might be a little different, no?
Only Rangers fans believe their club didn't benefit from EBTs and the players they bought.

You do know that Celtic used EBTs, surely?

They had players utilising them who played for Celtic?

Sure - they paid the money back, but those players were still at one time, on a pitch, playing competitive matches.

You can't do 10IAR now

After this season, you'll have won 8.5IAR, so can only win 9.5IAR or 10.5IAR, unless you are awarded another one somehow

It was Juninho.

For clarity though, he arrived with an EBT already in place from when he played with Middlesbrough. His normal weekly wage was paid through PAYE the same as all our other players. When we were negotiating his departure, his agents requested his settlement be paid to the EBT.

It was Brian Quinn, the former deputy governor of the Bank of England, who wasn’t happy with the process, and when he looked into it, declared it to HMRC and we paid the relevant tax.

Just so we have the right story...

Indeed, but that doesn't mean we didn't have one.

We did and we played him before we realised the potential tax implications and then sorted them
