Just seen this on the BBC website

Premier League: More clubs open to using neutral venues if relegation removed.

Surely this would make a complete mockery of the Prem if it was actually finished and no teams were relegated. Neutral grounds would be a nonsense anyway, would take away any fairness of having home advantage for those in relegation trouble. But what would be the point of finishing the season, if no relegation was in play.

There are some really non starter ideas being put forward. Only two solutions really, either finish properly or void altogether. Neutral grounds and no relegation if the season was actually completed, would be a complete no no.

Yeah I agree that would be tough to work out. It just seems a surreal thought to me that we will go from absolutely nobody allowed straight to everyone allowed with no in between phase.

I get your point though, and I don't think it's particularly the worst idea I've heard, I just think for many clubs, particularly yours and a few others who I don't doubt sell all season tickets and have some pretty monumental waiting lists, it would upset a lot of fans who've stuck by the club even during the less successful periods.

I would imagine that as long as fans buy into available streaming services clubs can offer, that will keep clubs ticking over in terms of lost gate receipts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Indeed. Imagine charging £5 pay per view for your clubs game. Spurs might get 60k fans through the gates @ £50 each but would probably get as much money from fans tuning in. £5 isnt much to ask IMO
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they kept a lift on the 3pm Saturday ban Sky and BT were able to offer that kind of deal to all PL and EFL clubs for every single fixture, all parties would benefit massively.

There could be a bit of merit to Firmino's idea in some leagues as well though until everything gets back fully, certainly if applied to say the National League and below. Would naturally depend on the kind of % of capacity that those teams' average gates attract of course, but as they are unlikely to benefit from any kind of streaming services or TV pool money, gate money and other matchday costs will remain an essential if they plan to get their leagues going again for a new season.

You could also see them appealing to local football fans who might ordinarily just choose to watch their football on TV and follow a traditionally big club. The same way that the get a boost to their gates when many fans are frustrated by the international breaks. So long as it was coordinated in the right way, it could provide even more income than they might usually expect, on a far more consistent basis. Football is massive for the economy, so the more commercial opportunities there are can only be good for everyone.

Its all about money, Sandy.
How to con poor fans like me & you into coughing up more money!
If they do it........ you'll still go watch it, won't you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ted, they won`t be letting fans into grounds for a couple of years I suspect. So yes, when it is safe, I will go back to watch. It is usually what supporters do Ted, unless when you started to go in the 1950s, nobody attended any game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well then, stop complaining!

They haven't started yet, so how can I be wrong? A lot can go wrong for them in the next two or three weeks.
