Just a bit of fun but pick 5 players that were very good players but you feel get overrated by the press, pundits, fans etc.
Here’s mine:
1. Fernando Torres
Was great for a couple of seasons at Liverpool but in reality only broke 20 league goals once in his career and never won a league golden boot if I’m correct. Injuries took their but his career fizzled out very quickly.
2. Paul Scholes
No one can call me unbiased now. Great player obviously but has almost been elevated to god like status to those within the game since retirement. Excellent player but never really remember him as being amazing.
3. Michael Owen
Pretty much see Fernando Torres.
4. Dimitar Berbatov
Again proving I’m not biased. Supremely talented player but didn’t have the mentality. Can only really remember 4 things he did for United. The hat trick against Liverpool, 5 against Blackburn, assist vs West Ham and the come back away to Blackpool. Other than that he was pretty average and often missed big chances at big time.
Again very overrated since retirement because he had a good touch.
5. Didier Drogba
A very harsh inclusion considering he was one of the best big game players I’ve ever seen but I just feel quite a few seasons passed him by. Brilliant at his best though.

James Maddison. Neat and tidy but imo Grealish is the better player, and hence is underrated.

Drogba - Good striker but his record but nowhere near the top strikers. 9 times out of 10 Rio and Vidic had him in his back pocket from a united point of view.
Gerrard - Hollywood Stevie would always be looking for the spectacular. Very good player however always thought his Hollywood passes were poor and rarely controlled games. His all action style made him look better than he actually was.
David Seaman - Never saw what was great about him. He had a very solid defence in front of him but I find it laughable when people talk about him even in the top 3 GKs in the premier league era
Lampard - fantastic goal scorer from midfield despite most of his goals been huge deflections. Not sure what else he excelled in on a football pitch mind.
Mesut Ozil - absolute dogsheite. The fact that anyone rates him for me is laughable. I wouldn’t have him at United if he paid the club to play for us.
