Germany have done a lot better than

most countries in Europe in containing the Coronavirus, but I think they are making a huge, huge mistake in restarting football next weekend. Already it looks to be falling to pieces with the news that Dynamo Dresden's entire squad is in isolation just a week before the restart.

Why, oh why would football put players lives in danger just to finish a season? It makes zero sense to restart so quickly, and can only be money motivated. I`m not really sure what they are trying to prove.

Are they just going to carry on until a player gets hospitalised, even dies, before they have to abandon it again. Ridiculous they are even trying to start, whilst this virus is still prevelant.

Football needs to get a grip of itself.

Hilarious watching people on their high horse over footy restarting. We have already seen that football can be played by looking at Belarus. Football is no more risky than all the other jobs currently being carried out day after day and in fact is probably a far easier one to contain.

Most nations look upon Belarus as a role model.

I can't believe we haven't brought back professional football sooner.

I tuned in out of interest and I lost that interest after less than 10 minutes.

But tune in you did and contributed to the figure of millions

I tuned into First Dates the other night and it was 2 geezers.

Yes, I tuned in.

No, I didn't change my sexuality and download Grindr.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you tuned in.

Thanks.

Kind of the point, a nation that would never be considered particularly capable is managing to put games on quite easily.

The big question with football being played is how many tests are required and whether they could be better used elsewhere in a world without football being brought back.

Set against that, every player who has tested positive thus far, since training and testing started, will have been asymptomatic. Now they're isolated, whereas they'd more than likely be out doing their shopping and going about their daily business, and massively risking transmission of the disease. At least with football, there is that testing and identification of infection. Not what's happening in almost every other job

On 26 March, the Belarusian government announced that all arrivals from countries affected by coronavirus must self-isolate for a period of 14 days, regardless of whether they show symptoms.
----------------------------------------------
I've been to Belarus - £50 for a visa and there's not that much to see, hence far fewer visitors than countries like Spain, Italy or the UK. So considering it was late Winter/early Spring when they brought in these measures it would be quite easy to track and trace visitors.

We've not bothered with any of that mularky here - Pile 'em in, stack 'em high.

One of the many prices we're paying for that is the fact that top-level, professional football can't realistically return soon unless you want a version so far removed from normality, it's farcical.

I'm not sure a country with the highest infect rate per capita, whose President has said no one will die from Covid 19 in their nation and who record most Covid deaths as pneumonia to suppress the figures should really be held up as the standard for anything.

I agree. The point being that they are managing to get games on without a problem. We would take many more precautions than they are doing.

A bit worrying:

Germany deserves everything it gets now, for being so stupid, and think they could buck the trend, and start football this quick. It is so obviously about money. Merkel has made one big mistake, and she will regret it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Merkel was against it but the pressure on her and all the state minister in the country was too high.

She almost quit about it. Media quote her in saying: "I give up"
