8 years ago today - That Aguero goal

Although it still bothers me to this day, But what hurts the most is the Sunderland fans celebrating our failure to the win by doing the Poznan, Up until that point, I didn't mind Sunderland, We loaned a lot of players to them, Roy Keane and Steve Bruce both managed them as well, But I'm glad Sunderland are struggling in League 1, I'll never forgive them for doing the Poznan on the final day of the 2011/2012 season

In a way, That Aguero goal did us a favour, We signed Robin Van Persie in the summer of 2012 and we won the league comfortably in the 2012/2013 season as well.

Talk about buying the league, aren't you still paying his wages?

I don’t think enough credits given for the quality of the goal tbh. Aguero still had a lot to do (and if he hadn’t scored, it would have been a penalty).

The strange thing even now with that game is I can’t watch anything from before the Dzeko equaliser. It’s as if I’m transported to the exact same feeling I had then, even now knowing what was to come. I have never felt so low (and subsequently so high) at any other point. The look on my sons face of pure unbridled joy when that went in was one I will never ever forget.

Those feelings will never be replicated for me as it did feel like the end of a very long journey (and a very bumpy one to say the least) and we weren’t going to make it over the final stretch.

I can honestly say it’s one of the most wonderful memories I have and at the same time, one that I never want to go through again!

Thanks to VAR that moment will never be replicated for any fan of any club.

I don't think you can ever top that moment to be fair. Once in a lifetime. Aguero did well to get his shot off. It was a clean strike, but I think most keepers would be disappointed not to save it. If he was a step closer to the post as he should have been, it'd have been right at Kenny.

They played or 30 seconds after the restart before the ref blew for FT, it's not like they stroked the ball round for 10 minutes.

Why would Kenny be expected to save that? It was a great finish and he couldn't have known that QPR were safe at that moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What are you talking about? After City equalised the Bolton game had finished. Hughes and the players knew that they were safe. City then score the winner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wrong, it was seconds before Aguero scored.

The QPR bench all jump up knowing they're safe just before De Jong played the ball to Balotelli.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you are telling me that Mark Hughes is wrong and you are right?

Yes, there's a clip on Youtube shot from the side opposite the dug outs, you see the moment the QPR players realise they're safe and it was well after the equalizer.

Hughes obviously knew they were safe after the Aguero goal.

It would of been a penalty, and one we probably would of missed (memories of Fowler).

Goals can take you from 0 to 100 in a split second, but we weren’t at 0, it was -100, truly awful feeling to complete ecstasy, and that’s a much rarer experience in the game for sure!

Anyway hope you are well Melton, I’ve dipped in and out of the site during the past few weeks and hadn’t seen you around, Hope all is well!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, thank god he did score it, I definitely couldn’t have coped with a penalty, particularly one we’d probably have missed!

Yes, haven’t been on in a while, been a crazy couple of months and I haven’t had any spare time at all. All ok though, hope all’s good with you too mate

Ah feck knows. Hughes has definitely spoken about how he knew they were safe when QPR restarted the game. He also spoke after the game about how disappointed he was that the players lost their concentration upon knowing they were safe, which allowed City to score.

We don't buy the league, Unlike some clubs.

To be honest we lost the title ourselves and shouldn't have left it to QPR to help us out.

People are on record confirming they knew they were safe, whether that impacted their concentration levels doesn't change the outcome.
