On this day in 2005...

I know we had many a laugh during David Moyes spell of footballing genius at Old Trafford, but on this day in 2005 Stuart Pearce decided to move David James up front, with a striker on the bench and in a game where a win would of taken us to Europe

Memories.

The Robbie Fowler penalty was right in front of where I sat then, I think it was borderline criminal he was allowed to play Premier League football at that stage of his career - looking back it was probably worth it just for that goal against United in the 4-1 win though

In 1994, Pearce was accused of directing a racial slur at Paul Ince during a Nottingham Forest–Manchester United match. It was alleged Pearce called Ince an "arrogant black c***".[47] Pearce has since admitted the offence, saying, "It wasn't appropriate at the time

Would it be appropriate now?

That 06-07 season under him was the worst season to sit through for my generation of blues, and I include the time spent in the lower leagues through the 90s! We were absolutely wretched at home.

Yep, the worst season as a fan I can remember. Ten goals at home all season wasn’t it?
