Good morning troops.
Well, in a few hours time, the SPFL will call the Scottish Premiership season as is and distribute prize money to all 12 clubs.
There is also the small matter of crowning Celtic league champions for a 9th successive season. Hearts will also be relegated however it would appear Hearts are backing down from a legal challenge and instead focusing on reconstruction or a compensation payment to cover losses from going down to the championship.
This was never going to be an easy decision, the fact remains though that it’s increasingly unlikely football in Scotland could be played anytime soon. An indication on some of the top leagues can be found below.
Holland - Cancelled their season while calling European places on Sporting merit, no champions or relegated teams.
Belgium - Declaring season as is with title winners and relegation confirmed.
France - Declaring season as is with title winners and relegation confirmed.
Germany - Resumed the season by playing behind closed doors
England - Exploring the possibility of playing behind closed doors, however, season will be declared with title winners and relegation confirmed should they not be able too.
Spain - Pretty much the same as England but they may prevent promotion relegation in their leagues.
Italy - Season due to resume behind closed doors.
Difficult decision for any league board, ours have been heavily criticised for the vote and that was thoroughly deserved, we got there in the end, but it was handled shoddily and has caused a mini civil war in Scottish football, albeit it appears to have calmed down the past 10 days.
Now then, onto the title win, it’s without question a thoroughly deserved title. 13 points clear with 8 games to play and there was only going to be one winner. I’m extremely disappointed we don’t get to extend the lead on the pitch as well as a possible 4th treble in a row but nonetheless, I’ll celebrate another fantastic achievement in our history.
Now the focus is on the unprecedented 10 in a row and we’re flooking gunning for it....
