Getting Bored

Morning all. I have to say after watching Bundesliga this weekend, I am bored of all the media (including BT pundit Owen Hargreaves) moaning about the lack of atmosphere and football in general BCD. Do these people not understand that there is a global pandemic and that BCD is a temporary thing?

Would they just rather not play football at all for the next 6-12 months potentially? The intensity of all Bundesliga games was the same, regardless of the empty stadiums. Tackles were flying in, games were played at the standard pace and the action on the pitch remained the same.

I keep hearing 'football is nothing without the fans' over and over again. I am sorry, but that is absolutely not true.

A dental practice is nothing without a dentist.
An operating theatre is nothing without a surgeon.
A passenger jet is nothing without at least one qualified pilot.

You can definitely play football without fans on a temporary basis. Football is nothing without two teams competing against each other to win the game. You don't need fans for that do you?? Did they never play youth tournaments or amateur football because they're hardly ever in front of any fans. Would these moaners, by the same notion, be happy if only one team turned up; but the stadium was packed and electric with atmosphere??

It's only temporary, get over it.

Oh yes - he's an Armenian who is a self proclaimed expert in Russian football.

You've shown him and only him. Andy Gray didn't say that at all.

You didn't attribute any names to the other quotes you posted, most of which showed a basic lack of understanding with how VAR works.

One of them put a piece of paper next to the screen.

As usual, you have an entrenched view and you can't accept that you might be wrong.

You'd rather believe that the VAR official was corrupt than the fact that you don't understand the technology properly and that you're wrong about offsides being black and white under VAR.

Classic TOOR.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I attributed names. One was Andy Gray on Bein Sports, one Chris Kamara, on Sky Sports and one the Armenian guy who works for several media outlets. There are many more but we both know that's a waste of time as you have made your mind up and therefore blindly reject the evidence, even with quotes.

Waste of time. I'm out.

Oh come on TOOR - you surely can't equate a referee in the middle of a massive crowd feeling pressured vs a VAR official sat in a room with his team?

You are just digging your heels in because that's what you do.

You cannot just step back and admit that you might have got this wrong.

You're entitled to believe the offside was wrong.

But you're not entitled to claim as fact that the lines were wrong and that the official deliberately acted in a way that showed Firmino was offside, even though he knew he wasn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not equating it, I'm just saying it happens and gave you a couple of examples.

I do think it was factual as there is video evidence of it happening, where TV companies around the world called it out. It was on Sky the following morning also and they were going crazy about it. In fact Chris Kamara said:-

“I’m not happy with it, I’ll be 100% honest with you,”

“In my opinion, this is made up, this has been made up by somebody at Stockley Park who’s decided they don’t want this to be a goal, and that is my opinion, and that is my honest opinion.

“From the naked eye you don’t need that calibration of dots or whatever to tell you, look at Tyrone Mings’ knee, Firmino is onside, right.

“So you look at the yellow line and there’s a black line there as well. So they’ve done that there - that tells you that he was onside.

“So they change it around now to make it that Firmino is the black line and Tyrone Mings is the yellow line, as you can see now."

“But the line that comes up towards Firmino isn’t straight - that’s not a straight line, that’s an angled line," he added.

“I put a piece of paper to it this morning haven’t I and I showed you - that is not a straight line.

“Get your rulers out, get your spirit level out. That red line is not a straight line.

“Now, somebody has decided to do that and I think they should be outed because that is not offside for me.

“That’s why it’s not a straight line, look at that paper, look how angled it is, that’s not a straight line.”

So if you're trying to make it out that it's a biased opinion, are Chris Kamara and Andy Gray, biased towards Liverpool?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So all these quotes are Chris Kamara and Andy Gray?

Most of them are hogwash and demonstrate that all you have are pundits are don't actually understand how VAR works.

Thanks that.

Seems to me that the only two people who have actually suggested corruption are an Armenian journalist who works in Russia and Chris Kamara.

Thanks for proving my point, TOOR.

"There are many more"

Yet strangely missing from TOOR's posts...

"we both know that's a waste of time as you have made your mind up and therefore blindly reject the evidence"

Irony alert.

I've given you a technical explanation for the Firmino incident and what have you done? You've ignored it in favour of the idea that the referee is corrupt.

You can't make this stuff up.

No, you gave me the explanation of why they moved from the foot to the armpit/shoulder. I have disputed that and I agree with that part.

No TOOR, I'm talking about the supposed diagonal line.

There's an explanation for why it appears that way.

You started today talking about perception - funny that you absolutely refuse to believe it in yourself, isn't it?

Face it - there's absolutely nothing that would lead you to admit you're wrong. Even if the Premier League sat you down and gave you a tutorial with a full explanation, you'd still try to argue it.

You decide your view and then refuse for it to budge.

Only this time it means telling the world that the official is corrupt, despite there being a perfectly logical technical explanation.

You jumped in and started debating a point I'm arguing with TOOR, so clearly I am assuming you agree with him.

Such a shame - all that valuable contribution and it's all over. How will we cope.
