Television rebate

As I understand it the PL has agreed a rebate of £330million because the contract to show matches has been broken.
Some clubs led by Liverpool want to fight this on the grounds that when they are shown they will be more valuable because there is no other sport, so more will view.

What do we think, my first thought is it's the clubs who have broken the contract so the best they can hope for is to negotiate the figure down.

TOOR you once tried to hook me up but I found it couldn't work for me for some logistical reasons. Never thanked you for that, so thanks

Not a big fan of streams. Guaranteed they’ll cut out just as someone takes a shot of just before a goal

It's not streams. It's IPTV. There is no cutout. Well probably on crap ones but not on good ones.

Fair enough

What were the reasons for that? Logistical? Do you live on a boat?

Lots of travelling, dodgy connections in certain places etc.

“ Ah. Do you not find that expensive for just watching a few games?”

Depends how often we’re on. If I’m able to watch or not due to family etc. If I’ve gone the pub to watch. I’m at home games so it’s only aways.

If there’s a run of 3 or so away games I’ll pay for the month.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How much does that cost?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
£9.99 for 24 hours, £14.99 for a week or £33.99 for a month
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow.

I pay £40 for the year for all games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
*illegally..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I pay £40 for the year for all games. I didn't mention whether it was legal or not. No need to correct me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not having a go, I can’t really blame you the prices sky and bt charge..

To the poster who asked for a link it was in the Guardian yesterday. You can still find it if you use search.

If you put it on a Firestick, you can take it with you. You also get an app for your phone, which is a free addon, allowing you to watch the channels.

Although that probably wouldn't solve the dodgy connection issue.

to be honest the whole rebate thing should really be a non-argument.

the government banned sporting events and public gatherings, from that point on it would have been illegal for the clubs to play a game, therefore sky/bt etc would have had to force clubs to break the law to enforce those contracts, which itself would be an illegal act.
plus it's not like the games aren't actually going to take place, or not be televised, so the tv companies haven't lost out on any of that either, it's just the delivery timeframe's altered.

let sky/bt take the premier league to court over it, I can't see any court system saying yeah, ok, penalise clubs for NOT breaking the law.

If you have a contract to do something, and don't you have broken the contract; It won't say 'unless it's not your fault' and let you off.

As I said higher up I had booked to fly to New York, the date was during the confinement, so no flights. I got my money back ( after they tried a credit note). The analogy is correct, it was not their fault, it was the same fault that stopped the games being played.
But they had broken their contract so had to refund.

The connection issues killed it for me. Perhaps another time, when one or two things might have changed.
