Aim for 3rd place

Wasn’t bothered about football coming back for a long time but now I’m excited again for it.

When we get back we should be chasing Leicester and not just Chelsea. 8 points behind with 9 games to go is catchable and we have to play them too.

We have a fully fit squad which is arguably the 3rd strongest in the league when everyone is available and I actually think empty stadiums could play into our hands for away games.

Even if we are not what we were stadiums are still buzzing when United come to town and home crowd is definitely a factor.

I’m looking forward to it.

The break came at a really bad time for us. Spurs, Arsenal, Sheff Utd and Leicester all started to falter whilst we Ere beginning to click.

Confirmation over the City appeal would be good sooner rather than later, as i do think we've a great shot at 5th.

We have the extra FA Cup game (maybe games) and possibly) Europa too.

There’s a good chance we’ll know our fate in the league before the Europa starts up again. So even if we fail to get fourth, and City win their appeal, we’ll have another bite of the cherry. And we can give it our full force given it will be our only focus.

In that regard the break has helped, the build of games we’d have experienced normally could have buggered us across all three competitions.

Spurs were missing Kane and Son too. And it was hard to see how United wouldn't have won that game, had it taken place when scheduled. But we have Pogba and Rashford back now, and suddenly it looks like there is a lot of firepower there. Of course, the big unknown is how injuries will affect teams, once the season is up and running again. United haven't exactly been lucky in that regard over the last 5 years or so

Yes, I think the city appeal is being heard very soon, in and around 10th June, from memory. So even that should be known before a ball is kicked. So we can go into the remainder of the season knowing exactly what's required. And as you say, there is a second bite of the cherry, should that be required.

Another interesting caveat is that United and Wolves have the easiest run ins, based on average position of opponents. But both clubs have struggled more than the other contenders against the "lesser" sides. That in itself will be interesting to see

Yeah that’s true. Though having a fully fit squad should stand us in better stead than them now.

Maybe. But I actually think United are better placed to cope without Rash and Pog than Spurs are without Kane and Son. We certainly were in better form than Spurs in the lead up to the enforced break

Kane will be injured within the first 3 games. Season over.

Wouldn't be surprised. Though I hope not. Outstanding striker with a great attitude and whilst it's never nice to see anybody suffer with injuries, I think it's a shame to see him suffer them so often, in particular

Let's aim to win the next game, and then the next etc. And see where we finish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's you sorted it then.

Oh it was sorted a long time ago by Shanks who always said "one game at a time".
You can't aim to finish in a certain place, because we have no control over teams results, except twice a season.

I agree. But we were talking about Wolves weren’t we?
