Right boys and girls, I know a lot of you are tech savvy types so here's the problem.
Reset 2 Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1, about 3 years old, that the kids used to use.
Sat in a draw for ages, so thought I have those for myself, as they have whatever the f*ck they have now and don't use them.
No problem, back to factory settings, full reset.
Problem is, now when I try to take a photo, download app etc, says storage is full free up space, but there's nothing to free up, as there's nothing on them.
16gb, 15. something or other used.
But used by what and where. 🤔
Any ideas?
Tech help.

You'll need an SD card. 16gb is not a lot of storage. The OS will use most of that. It likely upgraded to a newer version of Android and used up the storage space.
You could try an app called CCleaner, if you have the space to install it. You can use it to uninstall things you don't need and to free up some space.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No way the operating system is taking up 16gb and a factory reset would take it back to its earliest android operating system. Windows 10 only takes up around 10gb now. If storage is saying it's relatively empty, should be no reason why you cannot save a file.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, after reset it will put it back to to the initial OS installed, however it will then update when you switch it on. The OS and bloatware that comes with tablets generally take up about 10gb but can he more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed.
Anyway, thanks for that, will just pop a memory card into it.
Are there any issues in using memory cards to download apps?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and no, some will allow you to and others won't. Some won't work being saved to a memory card, however, there are apps you can download on the app store which allow you to transfer apps to the memory card. Hope that helps.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does indeed.
Thanks.

Not too many issues on Samsung tablets. Just make sure to set your downloaded apps to download to the SD card. Also get one with good speed and not below class 10. Apps running on the SD card will generally be slower as the internal memory will be quicker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice one Toor, appreciate that.

You can download CCleaner to a memory stick and run it for there

Never tried that on Android but it shouldn't be an issue. Although you'd need to have one with a mini USB port.

I wouldn't. Much more expensive, hardware isn't great for the price you pay, many apps and games you have to pay for etc. For a kids tablet for playing games it really isn't a great choice.
