Which League is the 'strongest'?

Out of the top European Leagues (English, Spanish, Italian, German and French leagues)

I think it's an interesting question because of the way quality is 'spread out' in the various leagues. For Example, the best team in the English League isn't as good as the best team in Spain or in Germany, but the English league has more very good teams compared to those leagues who have three or four at least "very good teams" compared to the English team which has seven or eight arguably if you include Lester and Wolves.

You also have to look at the quality of the bottom teams and midtable teams and compare them. How good are Norwich and West Ham compared to the bottom teams in La Liga or the Bundesliga?

So what do you think? Which League in Europe is the strongest overall?

Il ask again, who is consistently outperforming them? Us and barcelona id argue and this season we are out. They have 1 foot in the quarters for the 3rd season running. Who else out there has consistently achieved that? Without looking id take a punt on barca and madrid and thats about it.

They may not have won it yet. But it will come. I fully expect it to be this season.

Bayern were in the semis the season before last, something City have only managed once four years ago. Them winning two leagues with record points tallies doesn’t mean much when they’re a shadow of the team that achieved it. And they’ve regularly fallen short in the CL against teams they are better than/should beat.

They’ve got a chance, of course, but there’s little evidence to suggest they’re far and away the best team left in it, based on their history in the competition or their form this season

Amazing how people are trying to take Liverpool's glory away!..

And talking of shame, the shame is people trying to do it!..

This made me laugh.

But their form in europe has been very strong. They are unbeaten and have won 5 of the 7 games they have played.

You have just talked about bayern being semi finalists 2 years ago yet earlier on had a pop at me when i said liverpool wiped the floor with bayern last year. You said then a lot can happen in a year. Surely then bayerns semi of 2 years ago is even more irrelevant.

City have stumbled in the league as for me they knew it was over when they lost at anfield. Theyve come up against a freight train in the league that they just havnt managed to keep up with. In europe though i watched them stroll their group then produce a very calm and composed display at the bernabau despite going a goal. That for me was a very impressive display and said to me they have the bit between their teeth in europe this year.

Bayern beat chelsea. Im not anywhere near as impressed by that. And that couple with the ease that we swatted them away with last year leaves me feeling they have much more to prove. Time will tell.

It isn’t relevant, but you asked about comparable records in the CL the last couple of years. Bayern have won every game in the CL this year, and while they’ve not played team as good as Madrid - a team that are pretty ordinary this season anyway - they’ve still looked more impressive than City - as they have in the league.

City didn’t just give up in the league. It’s a team that is just inferior to what it was last season, Laporte being out having a big influence on that.

You beating them last season is irrelevant as they’re a different team this season. Collectively and individually it’s a different team.

You’re basically just judging this whole thing off a few games, some of which are from vastly different sides. Whatever, that’s your prerogative, but it’s a pretty weak argument.

Whats the big difference in this bayern team from last season that makes our result against them irrelevant. Individually all i see is pavard really. They signed hernandez who has been in and out the team. Throwing the word "collectively" in doesnt really mean much unless you have some sort of insight into the current mental state of the bayern squad.

Im judging this off what i see. Ive so said about 4 times now that time will tell. You seem to be incapable of accepting that. I have no issue if you dont agree with me whatever works for you bud. I can also see it must be hard for a united fan to accept that someone else thinks that city and liverpool are the 2 best teams in europe.

Pavard and Davies are the obvious ones at full back. This has pushed Kimmich into midfield and Muller’s been brought back into the equation, who’s been a far better player for them that James was. Lewandowski and Gnabry are having the best seasons of their career.

And collectively their style of football is much improved, playing moving the ball far quicker and more accurately than they did under the previous manager.

I’m questioning what you’re seeing. This is how debates work. But you seem incapable of providing any good arguments.

Me being a United fans isn’t the issue here. I’ve said Liverpool and, or, City are the best in Europe a number of times at points over the last few years. With City this is just no longer the case. And even if it were, the idea they’re far and away the best still in it is just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

Who is outperforming city then in europe consistently over the last couple of years?
------------------------
Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool (admittedly), Bayern Munich, i.e every big European team except for PSG.

Ive already outlined what i have seen. Ive told you how city have impressed me in europe. Ive told you my thoughts on why they have fell off the pace in the league but you dismissed it. Again thats your opinion. Youll have to agree to disagree with me on that. Ive also outlined that over the last 3 years very few have consistently faired better than city in europe and in my opinion they are edging closer to success on that front. If you dont agree thats entirely fine. I dont agree with you that they are a much inferior team, they are very well placed to win a treble again this season. Id i put good money on it that come next season most neutrals will have them as favourites for the league. Liverpool and city in my opinion have been the 2 best teams in europe for 18 months now. Thats my thoughts and il enjoy it while it lasts as it wont be forever. Maybe bayern will be the team to come through, but again I'll wait till we see how they do against some of the big hitters 1st.
