Transfers

In order of priority, list the positions you think we need to strengthen this ls Summer, name realistic targets and say if you think we will strengthen in that position or not.

Il go first. I think we need

1 out and out CF
1 Left sided forward
1 CB

I think we will see 2 additions this window, but cant see a F being one of them given we have signed Ighalo until Jan.

Over to you fellas

Also Rdd, you didn't say who you think we should sign for those 3 priority positions.

No. Did anyone ?

Top players are versatile. This sort of thing is over analysed beyond belief.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly my point Wonder Man.

Just little men trying to pretend they know more about the game than others by spouting lots of jargon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's debatable if players today are as versatile due to specialist positions current setups require.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Player shave allways had specialist positions / roles. It's just those roles change over time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of our current players may be deployed in different roles, but they are only effective in one position. Rashford best on the left, Martial best down the middle and Greenwood on the right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All players are better in A position / role, but plenty of ours can play more than 1.

But it's your article, so you first. I don't watch enough football to know who we should sign, but my priorities would be:

1. Right sided attacker
2. CF
3. CB
4. CM

He is versatile in different midfield set ups, his whole career has shown this. Issue is his consistency and application, but that’s less to do with position and more to do with his mental attributes and the team he plays in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it’s both Dazza, tbh.

The issues with his application are more of a problem when he’s playing in some positions than in others.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To an extent, but not to the extent you suggest, in my opinion. He’s an inconsistent player in an inconsistent team. One of the good things about having Bruno now is how much pressure it takes off of Pogba to create now. We’ll see a lot more disciplined performances from him due to that as there will be less reliance on him to join the attack. We’ll probably still see inconsistencies, but I’m fine with that if we can improve as an attacking team. He’s a better player than Fred and McTominay wherever he plays on the pitch. They just have a low bar with which they’re judged because they aren’t very talented players. Henderson syndrome.

Pogba has probably done better for France and Juve because he wasn't their main man. He clearly doesn't have the mentality for it. Now with Bruno here, that might change.

There is also his lack of tactical awareness and brain. That’s one if the reasons he’s poor in a 2. Not knowing when to play it simple, using simple passes and moves to shape the team around him. Honestly, if ole is not planning on using him in a 3, where we’d certainly see better of him, and give him a better platform to put in killer final balls, , then get rid of him.

Yeah I think that’s true. Plus naturally good players will play better when they have better teammates, especially when playmaking is one of your strengths.

I’m looking forward to seeing how him and Bruno combine in midfield. Even more so with Rashford making runs in behind.

I'm looking forward to Pogba pinging passes out to Martial, Rashford, Bruno and odion from the pivot.

If Mrs Rosso has taught me one thing, it’s that I should try to look forward to being proved wrong, again.
