The UKs favourite football team

Liverpool have been named the UK’s favourite football team in a YouGov poll, taking the title away from Manchester United.

Yes, as well as being champions of Europe and on the cusp of a first league title in 30 years, the Reds are also the most popular team in the UK.

The poll found that the Reds are supported by 8.3 per cent of the population, which puts them ahead of Manchester United (6 per cent) and Chelsea (3.1 per cent).

Liverpool just keep on winning at the moment.

The return of the Premier League this month means that Jurgen Klopp’s side will get the chance to seal the title.

The Premier League trophy would sit alongside the Champions League and Club World Cup trophies at the club.

Their success in recent times has no doubt contributed to their popularity and they are now admired more in the UK than Man United.

And YouGov’s study found that the gap between the two clubs is widening

So it's hardly surprising that Liverpool have risen to top of the rankings, considering they have one of the most charismatic managers in the league, have a passionate fanbase and have been extremely successful over the past few seasons.

Man City are fourth in the top 10 rankings, while Wolves, Newcastle United and Everton also feature.

Where abouts in Notts, melts? I‘m living in Beeston at the moment, lovely little area with some real nice pubs.

Yeah I work very close to Beeston, some really nice pubs there. I’m on the other side, I live in a village near Bingham. I do really like Nottingham, planning on not moving again for a while!

I'm in the City. Fair new Nottingham residents on 606.

Protest on the Forest Rec tomorrow.

As much as I’m on the Leicester side in terms of support, it would be good for Forest to be in the premier league. A city like Nottingham deserves a premier league team. Think the same about Leeds too.

It would do wonder for the City.

I don't mibd Leicester as a city but Notyingham is ace. Been here 20 years now.

Derby should be destroyed and turned into an Ikea or sommat.

Yeah I lived in Leicester for a while too. Agreed, it’s ok but Nottingham is a lot better.

Agree on the sentiments of Derby too!

Horrible place is Derby. People have no manners.

It's just a bizarre place. The hatred of Nottingham is palpable and no-one in Nottingham cares.

I find the fact they both have Clough statues weird too, no-one cares about theDerby one though.
