Besides I think its probably more the wages of Werner that drove Liverpool away rather than the transfer fee.

Liverpool have cashflow problems, so the fee was the biggest issue. They aren’t suddenly going to stump up a bigger transfer fee, and it would be, for a player on lesser wages.

Ah the rise of the JA606 accountants.
Sure, there will be a cash flow problem incoming, for every single club in the land. Which will affect all clubs but more so for those looking to compete in Europe, just like Wolves.
Having rich owners means jack if you can’t generate the income for FFP.
Let us know what Wolves cash flow position is compared to Liverpool’s.

I’m sure it was one of the reasons, but the inability to front the money for the release clause was the biggest issue. Which is why they were trying to haggle RBL down.
They’re hardly going to go out sign an inferior player for more money just because the wages are lower.

How do you know? Everything you have just said there, what evidence have you got to say any of this is true? Or is this just based off assumptions.

traore contract has 3 years to go.
he plays for wolves who are rich due to chinese backers
need I go on???
there is zero way he will be willingly parted with.
sancho was 100mil+ fee but that doesn't mean traore will go for less than 50mil.
the only thing that forces that move is wolves being broke.
irrespective of his wages the fee is an issue. the wages are also an issue.
we are more likely to try shift the mooted 6 players (press hackery) than buy.
wilson is one but covid may mean nobody will pay 25mil now.
shaqiri is one we need to go. attitude.
grujic was never 25mil anyway so he will be an easy sale.
lovren is going nowhere I think.
origi is the same. it's a pipe dream to see a player like werner come in for that plus say wilson.
the reality of the scenarios is if these players could be sold you could see the funds for werner but the reality is we are probably going to pocket the cash plus the freed up wages to keep things ticking over.
Clyne and lallana go which frees some wages at least but that could be handed to vvd and windy.
all in

It's a middle ground as always. Reportedly we're out of pocket circa £200m from covid. Looking at FSG's past they're just simply not going to throw another £75m+ at a transfer inc wages.
Can they? Yeah of course.
Will they? Demonstrably no.

It’s assumptions based on his own understanding.
ie an opinion.. he can’t find evidence for it hence asking others to look it up.

exactly.
it's not rocket science equations being worked out but if people want to ignore the available evidence and just want players they will but they will then get angry when it fails to materialise.
I myself had a falling out this time last season with individuals who got personal over it when I said the club were not going to sign anyone as the club had told us so right after the cl final.
they were 100% we have to do this and we will do that.
it's the same.on here, people like the stuff the press feeds them and they dont like to be told it's not true but the self same people turn around and get angry with fsg when the inevitable happens.
stuff like Sancho, koubailly, werner etc are patently made up. is traore? maybe as the fee is obviously impossible. it's unlikely lfc enquired with his contract having 3 more years.
nobody knows what the club will do on this site. nobody had access to the real losses here. but we can all listen to the sources the club feed info to for the message the club wants to be heard.
it saves a lot of energy.
oh and the club isnt a bunch of saints, they can say misleading things too when it suits. but context is vital.
the minute lockdown happened the club put out the line that all transfer and contract talks were suspended. they didnt leak the furlough stuff though.
it's all about messaging.

Excellent response, moreinjured. Couldn’t agree more.
No one but no one knows what the immediate future holds. Every club has caught a cold. In normal times, Werner would have been a bolt-on certainty, but not now.
Messaging, or non-messaging doesn’t really matter. With the uncertainty of what the future holds, with the inevitable loss of income, with owners who, at the end of the day are hard-nosed businessmen who measure their success solely on how much money they can make, a la the Glaziers - but with a little bit better PR behind them - is how they will judge themselves.
The future for the team? For me, very bright indeed. With the amount of youth talent coming through, do we need to sign anyone? Who do we need to sign? Who will they replace?
