Werner eligibility?

Does anyone know whether Chelsea signing Timo Werner means that he'll be available for the final 9 games of this season? I read somewhere that his deal has been delayed and that he was supposed to have his medical this weekend. WTF? Surely we cannot allow signings that wouldn't ordinarily be signed within the normal structured season. Or at least he can sign but won't be eligible to play until the start of the 20/21 season. This signing could be the crucial difference between Chelsea getting CL football. Granted we don't stand much of a chance of overtaking them at this stage but this will make it 10 times harder, particularly as they'll also have Ziyech up and ready to go too.

It would be an unfair advantage, just like Spurs having a 3 month break to get Kane, Son, Sissoko and Bergwjin back to fitness is unfair.

No way should any players being signed now be allowed to play in this delayed season.

Hardly unfair mate. Every team is in the same situation. Manu had Pogba, Rashford etc injured and now they are fit

Wouldn't be able to play in PL. He would be able to play in the CL though, as far as I'm aware.

Surely he has already played for a club in the CL this season.

Pretty sure you have to declare your CL squads, twice a season. Once for the groups, once for the knockouts. Don't think you can register another player after that. The normal Jan transfer window falls before the second squad needs to be announced.

Of course it is unfair, I am sure the Scammers for example, would rather be playing (and fighting relegation) against a severely depleted Spurs rather than a full strength Spurs.

Whoever ends up relegated from this sham season will have been royally shafted.

As the transfer windows will be in full swing at that stage and players will have left etc, they'll be allowed to register a new squad. So Chelsea will have Verner and Zayich available to play. This isn't confirmed but considered highly likely
