Dan James and our RW

Now he didn’t have a great game this evening, but I also think he is more useful than some of our supporters make out (especially in games where we know we will be under the cosh). He’s a good squad player, but probably not good enough to be starting regularly for us.

With hindsight, tonight was not a great game for him to be starting, he needs room to run against teams who will be open and play out. We were playing a poor Spurs managed by Jose - Ole and the team should have known better. Greenwood was probably the option to go with from the off.

What frustrates me most though is that in all honesty, James is best on the left, which is just not an area where we needed another wide player.

We haven’t had a genuine right winger since Valencia played there for Christ’s sake. If we sign Sancho, I will actually be the happiest man on earth. How one of the wealthiest clubs in the world have neglected their right wing / forward position for that long is quite simply gross negligence.

If we don’t sign Sancho, we will need a tricky right sided winger next season without doubt if only just to balance the squad more.

Sancho is best on the left though...Yes he can interchange during the game with Rash but if both players prefer the left, then we will inevitably end up attacking down the left 70% of the time like we do now.

Then again, an 80% Sancho on the right is still far better than anything we have now. But you don't spend 100m on a player and don't play him in his best position

We could've signed one of Ziyech or Bergwijn for £10-15 million more than James the summer we bought him which makes it all the more annoying.

It frustrates me that one of the first things José does when he joins Spurs is sign a winger in Bergwijn, something he neglected to do at United having had three summers to do so.

Plus he signed Sanchez when we could've got Lucas at a significantly smaller cost.

He's such a .

It's criminal we've neglected that position as long as we have.

Sancho plays on the right for Dortmund and England pal
___________

He's predominantly played on the left this season for Dortmund pal.

He was a left winger throughout his City academy days, moved to Dortmund and had a breakthrough season on the right since left wing was occupied but has played 3/4 of his games on the left wing this year.

Plus his stats breakdown for left and right wing prove he's more effective from the left

Have a look at the number of time’s he’s player right vs left, twice as much mate.

Also his stats are irrelevant as regardless of right or left, they’re massively better than any of our players

No he hasn't. During the first half of the season, he played a lot from the right. He has played more from the left recently but over the course of this season he's still played more from the right than he has the left.

Never witnessed such a condensed gathering of folk that don't know their right from their left.

The majority of PL sides and sides across Europe’s top leagues play down the left more often than the right.

I was amazed to see James start last night - I don't think anyone predicted that. Maybe Solskjaer wanted to play Pogba but thought it was a game too early so stuck with something familiar, I don't know.
