Ole out

...of most of his chances!

I think this is a massive game for Ole tonight and will tell us a lot of whether he has what it takes to succeed or not. I know that sounds a little dramatic but we:

- have a full squad available
- are playing at home against a team we should beat (minus a few of their better players)
- face the prospect of being favourites in pretty much the rest of our games

With the above in mind I really want to see us open up a bit more and get as many creative players on the pitch as possible. Draws are really no good from now on in as I think we should also be mindful of targeting Leicester as well as Chelsea in the quest for the CL place.

Tonight I want to see us really set our stall out and be on the front foot and I'd go with this team

Romero (DDG will probably play but he needs a kick up the backside I think)

AWB
Maguire
Bailly
Williams
(I could easily have picked Shaw with Williams or Dalot on the right as I think we need at least one full back who will go forward

Matic (as I don't think we'll particularly need the energy of Fred/McT tonight as I expect Sheff Utd to be compact and sit back)
Pogba
Bruno

Greenwood (deserves a start I think although Mata may be an option if Mason is preferred off the bench against tiring defenders)
Ighalo (I think we'll need a presence in the box)
Rashford

It'll also be a pretty sticky evening tonight as well so we'll need to keep the ball moving and I think the above side best does that. If we were to get a good lead then we can rest and rotate.

Again, as I said at the start, I think this is a big game for Ole and I just hope it goes the right way. For me he's done OK so far but, from now on in, we really do need more than OK.

Agree that it's an important time for Ole but also think the COVID-19 situation will mean a general acceptance of some unexpected results.

The biggest thing I am interested in seeing is the set up of the team and the style of play - we aren't far now from being in a position where that should become very clear, even if the results are a bit all over the place.

Didn't the style of play improve immensely when Bruno came

Not really, we just have a guy now who takes the initiative himself rather than through any good coaching.

Bruno has been good but he probably needs to reign in his constant shooting as I think that was an issue for Sporting fans through the years too.

Be interesting to see how Shef Utd react tonight. They were absolutely robbed of two potentially massive points first game back and then got done with ten men in the next. If fifth makes CL football some of their lads will think this is their one chance of playing CL football in their career. It's a huge carrot.

As always the first goal will be very important but I make Man Utd heavy favourites if they don't make any glaring mistakes. We've not seen many early goals in any of the games so with that in mind, and with it likely to still be very hot at 6pm, Shef Utd could snaffle a draw. A game broken up by injuries and cramp plus drinks breaks would help the away team more.

Well it doesn't really matter if it's coaching or Bruno. We played better and got better results. We were on a good run but the momentum has been stopped, so I hope we can get it back pronto.

I don't think so - the execution did.

And sometimes it's hard to see the underlying plan when the execution is poor.

I’m looking forward to seeing who gets injured for us later. My money’s on Bruno, just because it’d be typical.

Probably Pogba gets a sore ankle and misses the rest of the season 😂

Nah Bruno, because then we’ll have Lingard and Periera back in.

Will be interesting to see how we play without Bruno. He’s made all the difference.
