Celtic

Survivors of abuse are suing the club to “knock down the defence wall" that the Celtic boys club and Celtic Football Club are seperate entities.

"Celtic Football Club is appalled by any form of historic abuse and has great sympathy for those who suffered abuse and for their families. The Club is very sorry that these events took place. The abuse of young people is an abhorrent crime. Unfortunately it has affected many areas of society.

“With regard to the allegations regarding historic abuse at Celtic Boys’ Club (which, so far as we have been made aware, relate to the period prior to 1997), although Celtic Football Club is a separate organisation, we take these extremely seriously because of the historic contacts between the two organisations. Police investigations were given support, so as to seek to ensure that those individuals who abused young people were brought to justice."

It's a tough and painful issue that the club I love has this blot in its history.

Bottom line for me is that beasts abused their prestige and position within the wider Celtic family to satisfy their perversions.
I assume this court action is as much about recognition as it is about financial compensation and instinctively, I want the survivors to get as much closure to their experience as is possible.

Interested to hear you guys take on this, that an adult conversation can be had, the Scots boards does seem to be full of decent humans.

Celtic are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Lawwell and co didn't abuse those boys, celtic boys club was merely a platform, a medium for their disgusting desires.

They may not legally be the same entity, but there is a wider responsibility. Sucks thats a modern day football club has to deal with actions of individuals who (imo) are the only ones who shoule be accountable, and by that i mean anyone who was in charge at the time and knew or turned a blind eye. i don't think a club can be blamed for the ignorance and filth of individuals.

forget trying to appease the hoards of vile bastirts that act like they are in it for the victims but don't give a fvck about any that suffered at their own club, those brainless bastirts will never stop. Do what is right by the victims and help them get somr closure, or the charity work the club does will simply be a "but look how nice we are" smokescreen

well put

I don't think there's any lengths that Celtic can go to to erase this from our history, including apologies and financial gestures.

What I would like is a full admission that the separation of the club and the boys' club is tenuous, and full responsibility being taken by the club. Obviously that won't happen. I'm just saying that's what I'd like to see.

I'd like to see the victims and their families receiving official apologies. I'd like the club to make whatever financial reparation they need to.

I'd also like to see the club ploughing millions into anti-abuse charities and working very closely and visibly with them, as they do with Nil By Mouth.

Essentially I'd like absolute transparency and accountability. But I'm not a lawyer, I guess doing so would be financial suicide which, sadly, will likely inform every single action from this point on.

Great comment.

What's done is done, we cannot change the past but the future is down to Celtic.

But there is loads of boys club. Cant all be affiliated with Celtic

Ffs. You really should stay away from serious issues.

Hang on. I wrongly claimed you said this earlier and apologised when I realised I was getting you mixed up with bubble.

Remind me what you said when I admittedly wrongly accused you.
Because this reads very similarly to what you denied ever doing.

I was referring to his 'contributions' on COVID and race issues. Not sure abou CA although i think he haa posted nonsense on this before.
Youre right that Bubble was the lead idiot on the subject last time on here.
Another one who likes a good CA comment is that guy from Dundee who thinks hes funny but isn't (no, not Ivan). He loves a good CA remark on the English boards although, strangely avoids it on here.

Makes sense as I've thought for years that he might be Timmy. Or vice versa.

Barimmy?

I could see that actually

Lots of similarities when you look at it.
