Preston North End 0 - 1 Derby County

Deepdale
Preston
Near Pizza Hut and Asda

1700
1st July 2020

101st day of 'lockdown', the third match of the 'new' season and whatever Derby County can do to 'bizzare' their season happens again. After car crashes, sackings, Covid19, season truncation, the departure of Anya, we now have the stabbing of Andre Wisdom in Liverpool 8. Fortunately he will make a full recovery but he now knows he can't park where he likes.

Just as many were saying he was our MotM against Reading, we now lose him to the actions of some scallies down Beaumont Street (left off Smithdown Road) way in Toxteth.

No Tom Lawrence either - and less said the better. Despite being sorely provoked, he should have known better. Now we are without one of integral skill players and possibly our best defender. Derby County eh?

A solid rather than spectacular win against Reading - made more nervy than it should have been - keeps the momentum going with four straight wins. At this rate we may accidentally get a play-off place but first we still have to get past Preston. They lost to Cardiff who leapfrogged them into the play-offs and they need to win to regain some momentum.

Who to replace Wisdom? Will Freddie move back to centre half? Scott Malone may be back as full back? As I've said, it's so frustrating to have life's little surprises that interrupt your smooth progression in avoiding relegation.

Team news at 4 o'clock (have we ever kicked off at 5 before?)

Thank you all for your kind remarks, they are very much appreciated. My sons and daughter have been fantastic and have helped me and my friends have been very good to me. Friday nights were always spent at the (Three) Horseshoes but since the lockdown my pal has been getting draught Bass from Mickleover Sports and several of us sit in his garden two metres apart! The beer has been fantastic and onlt £2.50 a pint.

Ramdini it is a terrific thing to be married for 64 years, well done to both of you. I was married for 46 years and with my wife for just over 50 years. I miss her a lot and on Monday it would have been her birthday, sad times.

Thanks again everyone.
