Rice

Seem to be pretty heavily linked with him recently with reports saying Frank plans to use him as a centre back, which as I understand is his natural position? If West ham go down there probably could be a deal to be done for an ex academy lad and another homegrown player for a reasonable fee . I'll not pretend to have seen loads of him but what I have I've never been blown away, admittedly he's always been playing midfield. If the opportunity came up, would you take him back?

Proper overrated player. He seems immune to criticism despite how terrible West Ham have been. Hope you spend big money on him.

Rice's willingness in using his unfavored left-foot to play through the lines, switch play and not look awkward doing so, makes him an attractive proposition now.
Versatility is what Frank desires.

I would argue that Ampadu do the same (if not more) from left-side defence or midfield and cost nothing, but injuries are the big hindrance to him...

Rice definitely not worth the outlay that West Ham are demanding.

He is too slow to play CB

Ampadu is a good point. If we were to sign Rice as a versatile squad option for DM/CB..well that’s basically Ampadu right now too.

Still, I think Ampadu is in a need of a 30-40 app season which he’d lacked upto now, even if that means going to the Champiomship

What’s happened to Ampadu bk? Rice is a nice player but yeah not worth the outlay imo. Werner, ziyech, then rice? Not really at the same level and I know he is young but I’ve been more impressed with mctomminay this year.

It's a move I'm struggling to understand (if true).

I don't think he's necessarily a bad player but on the other hand, don't think he's particularly outstanding or better than what we already have.

Also as BK has already alluded to he reminds me of Dier, in that I don't think anyone knows what his natural position is.

Ampadu, again as already mentioned, is a player that can move between CD and DM - if we're to spend big money on a CD, I'd personally much rather we spent it on a specialist in the position.

The quota is two or more in modern times so he'll need a brace. Or the Ziyech anomaly, which is two half goals + an asset
