Great Telegraph Article

I enjoyed this comment from the Daily Telegraph

---------------------------------------------

'The only club in the country who could have come up with a way to make home games intimidating'

The cheerleading from the directors' box also caught the ear of The Telegraph's Luke Edwards:

"You have to admire Leeds United, not only because they are fun to watch, but because they might be the only club in the country who could have come up with a way to make home games intimidating for the opposition during lockdown.

"Leeds deserve promotion to the Premier League for the class of football, the quality of their players, the magnificence of their manager, Marcelo Bielsa, and the passion and size of their fan base.

"They have waited 16 years for their return and this rout of Stoke City, restored their six-point lead over third-placed Brentford in the Championship, with four games left to play.

"With the usually crammed stands almost empty, those allowed into Elland Road still made plenty of noise. Whether it was the smartly dressed men and women spread out in the directors' box, the substitutes, the coaching staff or the stewards, every decision was contested, every heavy challenge by a Stoke player protested against, every Leeds attacking move applauded.

"Even when they do not have their supporters with them, Leeds intend to march on together, even the noise comes from 30 people rather than 30,000.

"Those in attendance got what they came for, a commanding display from Bielsa's team. Stoke were outplayed and outclassed."

The cheerleading from the directors' box
-----
They've made mistakes and they're not perfect. But we got to appreciate the passion of Radrizanni, Orta and Kinnear, especially in light of what has happened with Wigan. We have people running the football club who actually want to be successful on the pitch, that's no small thing.

Absolutely, Best. We all got trained to expect
the worst of our owners etc. Feels odd to have
a team in place like this. Who think and act
like this. Hard to accept it's real sometimes.

But it obviously is.

Thanks for posting that, side. Good read.

Fook, let's get back up to the Prem and
see what this club can be again.

Two great articles.
Was in a packed pub in Cork city cenrtre a couple of years ago with Leeds and Man Utd games on at the same time.
Mrs Earl and myself cheered when Leeds scored and quickly found out we were the only ones there.
Could have cut the atmosphere with a knife and didn't help when my missus cheered when Man Utd conceded a late equaliser.

Will find the Leeds pub next time we are down.
