Dodgy Rodgers

Morning All.

I can't say I've seen/heard anything about this, other than this msn ad I've checked out but...

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/news/arsenal-coach-mikel-arteta-closes-door-on-kieran-tierney-exit-amid-leicester-transfer-speculation/ar-BB16DkfN?ocid=spartan-dhp-feeds

Surely if Leicester now make an offer on Tierney, it's safe to assume that the former Celtic manager has straight tapped up an Arsenal player to come and rejoin him, before he's even completed a year of his contract here. Because I can't see him even considering making an offer at this point in Tierney's Arsenal career. Unless he's communicated with Tierney on the sly. To be sure he'd push for the move if Leicester made the offer.

If it was any other coach barr Pep (Jedi Master of illegal approach), then I'd consider it an odd choice of transfer target. Though not necessarily see any impropriety. But in this case, the direct pre Arsenal link between Rodgers and Tierney, means this stinks of dodgy late phonecalls tapping up Tierney, to get the ducks in a row first. Arteta's saying no understandably but we all know how this goes if a player is adamant he wants the deal done. Thoughts on it if true and offer is imminent? Oh and anyone know how well Rodgers and Tierney got on because if they have a close relationship, we might just have a problem here

Didn’t Rodgers want to take Tierney before he ended up going to Arsenal?

It was believed he made approaches to McGregor, Tierney and Edouard only some short days after Rodgers left us and was called by our owner to gtf

Can’t see him leaving Arsenal so quickly now that he has just started to show his potential.

And one of the main reasons for it being Arsenal was his Mrs not wanting to live anywhere other than London if he wasn’t staying near home. That was a huge influencer.

Sounds vaguely familiar about Rodgers wanting him. I think I'd seen it among the chat about Tierney with some Celtic fans on here. That Rodger wanted to take him to Leicester. Was more focused on the Celtic fans that commented, mostly saying he was better than Robertson long term.

My issue here is, whether the deal would be done or not isn't really relevant so much as the question over Rodgers' conduct if an offer is actually made. I pretty much see it as if he makes a formal offer, then he's already illegally approached the player. The move's that odd, he'd have to know he was up for it before trying.

That's good news about the missus though. They can be the ultimate difference maker

It’s true that. I’ve met Tierney a few times but one of my mates is friends with his family. She was a huge influence.

On Rodgers behaviour you need look no further that that he was off like a shot to you guys when we had only 8 games plus a cup final left. Says it all really.

Yeah we know he's a tommy tanker but you can be that and still play by the rules. So it's whether he's cheating, tommy tanker that I question

‘How Arrogant

Only the most myopic of Leicester supporters might contest my first point, and the second is fact. How then can anything I said there be construed as arrogance?

‘ Obviously Leicester getting to CL isn't a done deal yet but it looks likely.‘

The arrogance was in the way you dismissed it despite Leicester's CL chances (which were better earlier ). As though even CL football couldn't tempt Tierney to leave the mighty Arsenal to join lowly Leicester.
