Grealish penalty that was

overruled by VAR reminded me of United's Bruno pen which was ruled...In by VAR!

Loving this consistency

In both cases, the attacking player stood on the defensive players foot.

Palace had a goal ruled out by VAR for a handball that umpteen replays from Sky didn't clearly show whether the ball was in fact, handled!

Disgraceful. Why isn't the touchline monitor not used by refs?

The ref can watch the clip himself and decide?

It's a shambles!

both awarded by the 2 worst refs in the league. both should have been ruled out but the one for utd stood. The Sakho goal even Grealish said it wasn't handball, definitely more shoulder than arm for me.

Riley and the refs in this league have facked themselves over trying to avoid criticism and wanted to hide behind clear and obvious, but just made it worse for themselves.

Truth is 99% of them arent up to it, we had 2 refs in this league who were good enough both Geordies i think, one facked off to China.

Should have paid to get Collina in to sort the mess out years ago.

I have no idea why refs don't go to the monitor more often. I assume it's because they don't want to have the responsibility of potentially overturning their initial decision. Whereas VAR officials don't want to overrule their mates, something that a former ref came out and admitted during the week and said was unacceptable

Truth of the matter is if they were mic'd up and took responsibility they'd get the respect they want. Being cowardly about it doesnt help them one iota.

Im not one for conspiracies but one of the main reason one would assume for them seemingly being reluctant to make the right calls is would be because theyre corrupt and actually want to influence results of games?

All the tools are there now yet they come up with inventive new ways to be different to other leagues, why? And they consistently make it up as they go along, theyre not even consistent with their decisions, one week, see Bruno then Grealish incidents days apart.

And for me, its prob best they are corrupt because if they are just really that incompetent they need putting out their misery

Don't think the VAR even bothered reviewing the penalty on Pogba the other night. That was a clearer penalty decision than any of the other ones.

Yeah it was. Wasn't going to affect the result and we'd been given an incorrect one earlier, so I think they thought it best to just leave it

Yeah I think that was more down to the strength of the officials in the VAR room. The ones today saw it was a clear error and overturned it. The ones on Thursday night were too weak to do so. Even with VAR, there is still a human element making the final call and that inevitably leads to inconsistency.

The Bruno one was clearly just officials being too cowardly or not wanting to overrule the match official. There's no way they would have been buzzing the ref to give a pen, had it not been initially given. Put it that way. Clear and obvious error is subjective due to it being unquantifiable

Disgusting dive for it as well.

Yep. And he did himself no favours after the game either. Just engaged in whataboutery based on the game on Thursday, rather than accept that he took a dive. I don't mind him mentioning the inconsistency, but his failure to take ownership of his own actions was disappointing. Just came across as very childish

I don’t think the Bruno incident was a penalty firstly. However it was also very clumsy defending and Bruno couldn’t land anywhere else, he did make a meal of it though. Grealish was different as he stretched out to make the contact. Neither pens but we’re different incidents.
