Atalanta

I don't suppose anybody on here has watched much of Atalanta this season?

I haven't, but I did catch most of their recent game at Juve, they were comfortably the better side and unlucky not to win due to an extremely unlucky penalty given against them.

Their form and goal scoring this season is remarkable, especially when you look at how cheap their players were.

Last night I looked at the odds on them to win the CL, which were 10/1. Was expecting better odds TBH but I chucked a fiver on it. They'll be completely match fit against PSG, for whom it will be their first competitive game for several months.

By all accounts, their Manager Gasperini was a disappointment in nearly all of his previous jobs, but he's worked wonders. Could he secure himself a big job in the not too distant future?

We are signing their RB

The manager has taken the Crystal Palace model and ran with it.

Only reason they're cheap is that they're all almost 30 or thereabouts.

they are the Ajax of last season. watch as the team gets broken up and sold to all the bigger european clubs

or the Spurs of 3 years ago ??
Unfortunately, as is always the case in football, the so called established big clubs will come calling, looking to break up a good thing /threat to them, and at the same time protect their "elite" status. It has happened so many times of the years. Why do you think Europe's "top 10 rated teams" never changes ?

Tottenham failed to take the extra step needed to establish themselves as one of the elite clubs. Perfect time while United, Chelsea and Arsenal were in disarray. Stood still and now have gone backwards. Only yourselves (as in Levy and the owners) to blame.

This principle could be argued for about 80% of all transfers in football

The unlucky penalty incident mentioned in the OP is consistent with decisions made in Italy this season. They are very strict, ridiculously so, with the handball rule.

Spurs are where they have been for most of their history in the league. If any team has gone backwards it is United. Remember when you won the title practically every year. How many years is it now since you even come close to challenging?

Gasperini is a very talented manager who gets the best out of his players, particularly forwards. He did very well at Genoa preciously, albeit he struggled at his one big job - Inter, but he probably wasn’t given enough time.

I think they will continue to perform as a lot of their key players will stay. Gosens is such a tidy wingback

Leeds played Atalanta in a friendly several years ago and they said that they are like the Millwall of Italy. They're doing really well though

I don't really get the point of this, Sandy. You seem happy for Spurs to stay where they are.

You were ahead of us (Chelsea and Liverpool as well) and didn't build on it. Now you've fallen behind. Us and teams like Leicester and Wolves have capitalised on yours and Arsenal's disarray. A lack of ambition by the men running the club hash led to this.
