Jose came in. At last the winning mentality seems to be coming back to the club. Back to back wins, in what last season would have probably been back to back defeats, Jose is getting what he can out of these players. Knowing that changes will be coming for next season.
The midfield is still I think the weakest link. Far, far too easy to get at out back four. To often Winks is just running back alongside the opposition players, he needs outing for next season, no question, and a really tough, hard tackling defensive midfield needs to come in. One who can win the ball before it gets anywhere near the penalty area. Lo Celso, whilst he is tidy, is nowhere near creative enough, no assists, and no goals tells you everything. Will make a good squad player, but nowhere good enough to be the main man in midfield.
Get the midfield sorted out, then Spurs have the attacking players to score a hatful of goals. The defence will not come under so much pressure either.
Decent result that today for Spurs though, just need to see it out for the last two games, and should be enough for Europa League. If only Dier had not made that stupid challenge against United, CL may still have been on the cards. But hey ho that ship has sailed. I will take Europa anyday over no European Football.
Onwards and upwards it is them. COYS
Oh and Serge completed 90 minutes. What a star.

For context, I now live just outside North London, have a lot of Spurs fans mates and have seen them play quite a bit.
But I’m not as qualified as regular match goers, I’ll grant you.
Still entitled to an opinion though!

Absolutely entitled to your opinion but trust me when you watch the pain of being outplayed regularly and not winning away from home for 11 months , just can’t see where the confidence is coming from . I can assure you the football was dire.

We didn't address key areas in the team in the summer and we don't know who's fault entirely that was. Let's hope we see us do that this summer and we should see improvement.

Yeh I appreciate that but I think the CL run was part of it, and I still think that he was entitled to try and turn it around.
We can all throw stats around but the reality is that he got those top four finishes and we will never know what may have happened this season had he stayed.
I still believe the logic suggests he’d have turned it around.

Sandy, if you want the midfield sorted you have to get your favorite manager, Levy, to sort out the mess he's made with his record purchase of your favorite midfielder, Ndombele

Absolutely no doubt about it now......
Sandy is indeed a WUM!!
No answer to this one at all!! ...

I see the narrative has changed again.
Last season, when you were failing to win all those home games & opposition fans were posting LAS articles. Spurs fans including yourself, sandy et al were quite happy to say 'Wembley is not home, it's a soulless hole with no atmosphere'
Now it's all about Poch not winning 'at home' for 11 months, funny that don't you think?
Bearing this in mind, do you REALLY believe Maureen has done any better than Poch would have had he had his new signings (i.e. Lo Celso) available as Maureen has?

Must admit I was a bit surprised by that claim - I knew leicester had faded badly, also chelsea to a lesser extent, but thought arsenal and wolves would have outperformed you - but it does check out. 41 points from 24 games does indeed have you 4th, though fair to point out that ordinarily you need c. 2 points a game for a CL spot.
The time was clearly right for a change - all this talk of how Poch could have turned things around does ignore that he was looking and sounding increasingly fed up, and there was every chance things would have got worse. Jose's brought in, what, just the one player? So interesting to see a) who he targets over the summer and b) whether levy makes serious funds available.
He's clearly not quite the force he was, but i always thought he was harshly dealt with at united, and he's still a decent manager. And I know I am in a real minority here, but i still like him, he''s articulate, engaging, and witty when he wants to be.

Was Poch's biggest fan and he did have the new signings i.e Le Celso so not really sure what you are on about.
Sure, Poch could have turned it around but he would have had to change back to his tried and trusted in your face style(His USP if you like). If you took that from Liverpool or City they would be half the team they are.
But his body language was negative and he never changed the footballing style but expected different results.
A great man once said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results."
Hence I struggled to see how things would have changed in he short term.

Form table since match day 13, when Jose took over:
1. Liverpool - 59pts
2. Man City - 50pts
3. Man Utd - 43pts
4. Spurs - 41pts
5. Wolves - 40pts
6. Chelsea - 37pts
7. Southampton - 37pts
8. Sheff Utd - 37pts
9. Arsenal - 36pts
10. Burnley - 36pts
11. Leicester - 33pts
12. Everton - 31pts.
The rest 28pts and below.
Then think of the media coverage ( positive and negative ) over the same period. For example do they make us feel like Spurs are 4th and Leicester 11th - or is it the other way around ? or that Man U are actually 7 points adrift of City, rather than being world beaters ?
As they say, the table never lies, just in the eyes of the media, who have a "favorites"agenda at all times.

Well, I don't think the media were proclaiming united to be "world beaters" back in january, when we lost at home to burnley. Actually i don't think they're proclaiming us world beaters now, but we'll leave that for now.
Since then bruno has joined us, rashford and pogba returned from injury, and greenwood added bulk and maturity. And since bruno's first game for the club, the form table looks like this:
United 25 (with a game in hand)
City 24
Arsenal 23
Liverpool 23
Chelsea 23
Wolves 22
Spurs 21
But yeah, the media.
