Happy retirement Andre!

Andre Schurrle has decided to hang his boots up at just 29!

Seems like he's fallen out of love with the game!

Hope it's not a decision he comes to regret in time. But I guess what it shows us mere footballing mortals is that for some (most) pros it really is just a job.

Enjoy the next bit of your merry adventure, Herr Schurrle.

One of the good guys, blighted by injuries.
Never fully recovered from them, after that World Cup final assist for winning goal.
First-rate off the ball movement and fine finisher (on his day) should have yielded much more goals than he scored.

Wish him well...

"Hope it's not a decision he comes to regret in time."

Never will.

Schurrle:
'I have a deformity which affects my muscles. It makes them stiffen more easily.'
'The muscles in my buttocks and thigh have repeatedly blocked, which is partly due to a vertebral problem in the back.

'Because of the stiffening, I could no longer perform certain movements without pain and couldn't sprint.'

'I was able to push myself for three or four weeks, but then I fell into the deepest hole there is,' Schurrle admitted, after outlining how an element of his deadly speed had left his game due to his thigh muscles constantly feeling 'on fire.'

Oh okay. Well fair enough then. Good luck to the guy, and hope he enjoys a long and healthy life post-football (he's too young to wish him a happy retirement!).

He's done well to last this long in .

Schurle had moments of brilliance, shame he was prone to injures.

Wish him all the best in the future
