Zidane

Is it just me or does Zinedine Zidane not get the huge credit that he deserves as a great manager.
We all remember the incredible talent and great winner he was during his career as a player , but he's been just as outstanding since becoming a manager.
He just led Real Madrid to winning the league in Spain a few days ago and that's already his 11th trophy as their manager ( including 3 CL titles and 2 league titles ).
Many high profile managers such as Mourinho have miserably failed at the Bernabeu in recent years but Zidane seems to be a natural at that job.
Just look at the absolute mess the club found themselves in after he stepped away for a while.
Yet , the point I'm trying to make is that when we talk about great football managers today , we often mention the likes of Guardiola , Klopp , Ancelotti and even Diego Simeone at Atletico seems to get more love and respect than the great Zidane.
The job he has done at Real is absolutely exceptional. Not too long ago becoming the manager of Real Madrid was generally seen as a managerial death sentence due to the huge amount of pressure and demand ( sacking a manager after winning the CL for example ) , but Zidane has made it look relatively flawless. I guess 3 straight CL title will do that ...
Oh and he's proved quite a few people wrong by winning the league this season without Ronaldo and ahead of Barcelona who still have Messi
For me personally , at this point , the only manager in club football whom I'd put ahead of Zinedine Zidane is Pep Guardiola.

Thoughts?

i always felt that RM team could manage itself to some degree, it was extremely experienced. It had Ronaldo Modric Ramos Marcelo Benzema etc? All mature and hugely experienced. Just felt like they and the fans wanted someone they respected and played moderately decent football. They suspect they never really liked Mourinho/Rafa styles etc. Oh and theyre always one of the favourites cause theyve the most expensive squads n players about regardless.

So yeah i think hes done brilliant but like pep but its hard to tell without seeing him do it as an underdog.

Also they spent 320m in the last transfer window ffs n 150m before that.

I think it’s a unfair to say Mourinho failed at Madrid.

He beat Pep’s Barca in a cup final in his 1st season and then beat them to the title the next.

Ok it turned sour in the 3rd year as it usually does with Jose but he’s been their 2nd best manager in recent times.

*it’s unfair. Put a little Italian twist on that

This may be true of the Madrid under Zidanes previous tenure, not this one though.

Possibly the best of all time. 3 champion leagues in a row and now titles.

While winning 3 CL’s in a row is a huge achievement it can be a lottery.

I prefer to judge managers on league titles and he’s won two of them also so yes he’s proven he’s a top manager but greatest ever is pushing it.

Stick him in some Ray-Ban glasses and boom!

The guys record is amazing, as a player and manager. Think he will collect another CL before leaving Madrid again.
