Mbappe vs GREENWOOD!

Yes I'm making that comparison. Largely because I've probably seen both play, around the same number of times. So I admit to a very limited view of both.

When I saw MBappe at the WC I was impressed. As far as the hype, he done "everything it said on the tin." Now I'm seeing a certain mister Greenwood and though he doesn't yet have the physical maturity and presence Mbappe did/does. I gotta say he actually impresses me more than Mbappe did.

Maybe it's because I watched Mbappe for whole games, where I only see highlights of Greenwood. But damn that kid's a goal machine and the goals he scores all look something special. Not even sure how good he is at the secondary aspects of his role. But having seen how good he is at shooting, who cares. Just let him run near the goal and pass him the ball, apparently the rest takes care of itself

Kid looks awesome. Utd fans you LUCKY feckers <

Greenwood gets that boot where Mbappe purely by fortune of the type of striker he is btw.

OP kind of inferred it that Greenwood has this insane cheat code shooting ability from 15-25 yards.

Umm pretty much yeah but that's what he shows me every time I see him play. "And it's Greenwood, BOOF, what a goooal." He's doing it that much it's funny.

I've not seen Greenwood play yet so I can't comment on his style. Is he dynamic or a pure scorer?

The thing with Mbappe is he can beat you in different ways. Look at how he dribbled 70 yards at top speed through half the Argentina team to win a penalty, in the World Cup R16. In the same game, he scored two conventional striker's goals. In the SF, he produced moments of creativity and guile, then in the Final he scored from 25 yards (longest range goal in World Cup Final history). You just can't stop him.

Also, part of the reason his teams are Dream Teams is because of him.

For example, Messi at 19 played in a strong Argentina side in 2006, Ronaldo was 21 that same tournament in a strong Portugal side. But Messi made zero impact and Ronaldo's impact was minimal. Mbappe stole the show.

How’s greenwood going to beat Kane to golden boot when he probably won’t start for england.? At least for a few years.

Someone on twitter compared Greenwood to Rivaldo and I can see that, there's a similarity in their technique whereas Mbappe is in the R9 mould. Mbappe is much quicker and a better dribbler and looks more explosive. Greenwood still has a strong all round game though and might already be a better finisher. Next season will give a better idea of Greenwood's ceiling.

I completely agree, they both play(ed) football. That similarity, right?

Otherwise he’s nothing like rivaldo

They have the same piledriver shot with no backlift, even on the ball and dribbling style there's some similarity

That would be the whole "full grown man's body" thing I mentioned. Of those 3 players, Mbappe's the only one to possess the strength and power of a 25 yr old, at 18. Ronaldo didn't (took years before he could physically outmuscle players too) and Messi certainly never (and still doesn't now ). A better comparison is Brazilian Ronaldo. Another example of what happens when you give a talented 18yr kid "big bully boy man strength," on top of the great natural ability. He took the tournament by storm too.

Neither he nor Mbappe does it, as young as they did, without the sheer luck of being physically mature earlier than most. Their game had an element the others didn't yet. Not because they were more talented but simply because they were physically mature enough to posses a man's strength and power, where the others weren't yet. Portuguese Ronaldo truly became unstoppable when he matured physically and could power play to his game. Was stopped alot more before that power came.

I'm comparing sheer ability. So Mbappe gets no credit for mother nature making him the big kid or Monaco, PSG and France ALL being dream teams whom could just as easily have won what they did, without him.
