not since the scousers finished 3rd in 98 on 65 points has a team finished 3rd with such a low point total.
in fact there is only one other season in last 15 where 66 would get you into the top 4.....that other freak season when all the big boys didn't turn up allowing a small club to have their moment in the sun 15-16, maybe every five years we will see these seasons where the quality falls off a cliff?
lets not kid ourselves, its good to be back in the CL and get the bronze medal but we probably won't see such a poor league again next season.
big improvements in personnel and fitness needed to kick on from here.

possibly, though worth noting that just taking the last 14 games of the season - ie bruno's debut onwards - we actually took more points than anyone (32, 2 ahead of city, 3 ahead of pool)

This was the kind of stat I used to cling to when a season ended, optimistically thinking that it meant next season would be better/successful.
