Pedro Rodriguez Appreciation Thread

As it seems he may have played his last game for us yesterday: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53548369 and so may be moving to Roma before our FA Cup final/Bayern games, here’s a little appreciation article for the guy.

A smart signing for us to make and has contributed well for us over the years - his peak for us probably coming under Conte’s title winning season. That 3-4-3 really suited his game. Now leaving at the right time really, still done well to get a move to Roma.

I always liked his apparent goal threat and work-rate. I will admit though I thought his goalscoring record was better than it is for us, looking back on it 😅. 29 league goals in 139 appearances, 43 goals in 203 apps all all competitions. Still, under Conte’s first season and Sarri is when he was contributing (with goals) at a good rate.

Where does Pedro rank in Chelsea wingers? Fond memories or did he frustrate you?

Much appreciated,a good honest pro,and a nice person as well. I'm sure he helped the younger players with his enthusiasm and his experience.

Thank you Pedro, and all the best.

Hard working, when he'd already won everything in the game and could have taken his foot of the gas, scored important goals, despite being in and out the side always, always worked hard. Fantastic pro, seemed to have a good personality. Got along with the fans and kept his head down.
Good connection with hazard and willian. Great great player who kept us ticking over as a club fighting for trophies.

Pedro be sad to see him and willy go, only azpi really left of the old guard.

id also say that a lot of those appearances were not starts.

so is probably more like 29 league goals in around 100 starts which isnt awful

Yeah that’s a good point I realised. Can’t be bothered to break it down but I’m sure his minutes/goal probably looks a lot more favourable.

Agree with all of the above sentiments. When he came to us there was absolutely no sign of any big-time charlie syndrome which when you consider the top Club he came from and the pedigree he he came with and his contribution to their achievements, a lot of other players may not have had his modest and hard working attitude. I suspect that he has actively encouraged our young players. Personally i'm gonna miss him and wish him the best for the future.

Top player. Someone I didn't fully appreciate until I was watching him week in week out for us. A really classy player, immaculate football brain, someone who you just know growing up through arguably the greatest academy class in history (from a technical standpoint) made the most of everything he had to succeed, love those types of players, we're managed by one of the best of them

This is purely speculation on my part, but when you look at the way CHO's been moving this season compared to last I think Pedro's been help him out in training cos he's looking to find little pockets of space more (Pedro's forte). He's precisely the sort of player you want helping young players, I wouldn't be surprised if he became a coach/manager, so much work ethic & learnt knowledge to pass on.

Sucks that he's going but good for him, needs to keep playing. I'd have happily given him an extension for said reasons above. Good luck to him

Class player. Post champions league 2012 win, he has been our best winger after Hazard.

Loved his energy, movement and his directness. At times his style could be frustrating, but his contributions to Conte's first season and the Sarri season were great
