Transfers - Arsenal vs Chelsea

It is always so frustrating to see how horrible we are at making good transfers and pilfering away much of the transfer season to bring in players after preseason has started to not at all. We also want to penny pinch with every team we deal with. Why the faaack is that??

I am looking at Chelsea specifically this time although time and time again, we have seen other teams complete their dealings early and bring in the players they want/need. So far, Chelsea have brought in Ziyech, and Werner. Ziyech we were linked with a while back and will do a job in the midfield as an AM. Werner is a prolific striker who is also very young. I would have him over Pepe or Lacazette. Both were brought in for reasonable prices considering how good they are. Chelsea are closing in on Havertz from Leverkusen who again, is young and highly highly rated. Their front six next year could be made of your pick Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic, Mount, Kante, Kovacic, Giroud. That is scary good on paper and if the newcomers gal with the current residents, Chelsea will be a force going forward. They are also aware of their defensive deficiencies and are hunting for a left back and goalie. If they get them, it could be interesting to see how much closer to Pool and City they get. In any case, they re doing their business early and will probably have most of what they need in time for preseason.

Meanwhile, even though we know we need a Dm, Am and Cb, we are faffing around with Atletico and have had a second bid rejected for Partey. Why on earth can we never get out siht done early and quickly???

Chelsea would not be in business if their owner didn't forgo the nearly 2 billion in debt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And your point being? Thats like me saying that Liverpool would still be in 5th-7th place if it were not for the new owners. Lots of clubs have been bought by billionaires who structure the debt differently.

My point was about how clubs handle transfers. We rarely have brought in a player and got them ready for a full preseason with the rest of the squad

I don't think theres any football owner in the entire world looking to gloss over so much money..
Most clubs have to deal with financial restraints.
Obviously since FFP came in things have changed (unless you happen to be Man-city). so Chelsea cant basically buy anyone they liked
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing to do with the article though, because Chelsea have done quick business even under ffp as the op is referring to

Just saying... That Arsenal don't have the owners that spend willy nilly.. they are tight fisted.
Chelsea are living of the facts they are getting away with all the debt they have because of their owner.

But again still not relevant. We have been within ffp means for years and selling players accordingly. And we have got our transfers in early as the op is saying. Both not massive transfers in this day and age.

Why you’re bringing up an owner that brought us 17 years ago is completely irrelevant. I would suggest getting over it

How much money a club has doesn’t dictate how quickly and efficiently they act in the transfer market.

That said, Chelsea fans have complained about them not acting quickly enough in the market many times. All football fans complain about this. People have unrealistic expectations.

that’s nearer the point tbh. We’ve acted slowly and quickly depending on the year

It’s not an exact science. Just for comparison, in the 18/19 summer window Arsenal got five senior signings done by 11th July. Chelsea hadn’t made one until 14th July, and didn’t get Kepa and Kovacic sorted until the 9th August.

Have to be honest, apart from his debut goal Cedric has looked pretty crap so far, certainly not a replacement for Bellerin, he's a poor to average backup at best imho, hope he proves me wrong next season but I can't see it.

Chelsea have the best negotiators in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool do.

Chelsea signed Kepa for £72m.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And nobody would be surprised to see them somehow manage to sell him at a profit too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I imagine thats impossible

But I expect he will be on loan for a couple of years and then we will make a decent chunk of the fee back

2 years of loan fees + maybe like 40m back for him

Well..we wait and see what Arsenal will do. If we go into the season without plugging the obvious gaps, we will be screwed yet again!
