Sergio Reguilon

According to Sky (I know) Everton have bid 18 million for him.

While I don’t think left back is top priority this window I do feel if there’s a bargain in the market to be found it’s an area we could strengthen in.

While Shaw isn’t perfect and needs to improve his final ball I felt we missed him in the last few games of the season.

I like Williams and think he can have a big future at United but I think he’s more suited to right back especially when we are always going to use a right footer playing in front of him. You need a leftie for balance.

Now I’m not going to say I know a huge amount about Reguilon but he has been the best left back in La Liga this season on loan at Sevilla according to some.

At 23 even if he didn’t work out he would still have decent sell on value. Apparently Real Madrid are desperate for funds and for the right price it could be a clever deal.

We keep getting linked to players that Everton are in for, feeling like people are just putting United’s name out there to get an increased bid for their player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We haven’t been linked to Reguilon I was just suggesting he’s someone we could look at if available for the right price.

Ah sorry mate, didn’t read the article properly.

On LB & RB I actually do think they are very important priorities for us. AWB has done very well defensively but my god his passing and offensive play is shocking. I think he’d be best as a RCB as part of a three.

The reason why I think the fullbacks need improving is that the opposition can just let us have the ball and pack the middle of park tight with bodies and force us to push it wide to AWB or Shaw/Brandon and straight away there’s little to no threat. Saw it in the last couple of games and GNev pointed it out in commentary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No worries at all pal.

Ya I get what you’re saying and you’re right but that problem only seemed to start when Shaw got injured.

His final ball is often lacking but he does pose a threat down the left and gets forward well.

It's a position that we can improve on but not a priority. Unless we cannot get the others sorted, we could spend here. Otherwise, we do need a RF, a back up for Bruno, a fast and a replacement for Matic before that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d agree with all of this.

I think the first two positions you mentioned should be a priority but if there are bargains to be found in other areas of the pitch and it doesn’t affect our priority singings then we should look into it.

For me Grealish and Sancho would be a great summer and anything after that would be a bonus.

Yeah Shaw did improve before getting injured to be fair but can he provide what Irwin, Evra, Neville and maybe even Heinze provided? I’m not sure. Same goes for AWB. I would still prioritise a RW & a CDM but for me after that would come a full back at the level that we’ve had previously and Liverpool have now. It just opens up the game for us and creates more space for us to penetrate.

I think if we got someone like Ndidi for example then if necessary Pogba can cover Bruno and vice versa combined with one of McT or Fred. Neither of which are Carrick/Keane levels of course not but we also saw them perform very well until the break.

I’d prioritise an attacking midfielder over a defensive one this summer.

McTominay and Fred aren’t the answer but can do a job in the Matic role.

We’ve already seen the effect on the over reliance on Bruno.

Lingard, Pereira and Mata aren’t even capable of doing a job in the role and Ole won’t play Pogba there it looks.

Yeah I don’t get why Ole won’t play him further up probably because he’s not confident enough in the others in midfield.

Let’s hope we get Sancho and just win games 5-3 every week lmao

Really not fussed about Grealish would cost too much.

Reguilón looked quality at both ends of the pitch in the appearances he made for us. The assumption I’d made was that Zidane wanted him to continue getting experience but was also desperate to recover Marcelo for the cause, hence the former’s loan out to Seilla.

I hope that’s right and that any potential transfer includes a buyback clause, but having said that we just sold Hakimi to Inter for about 40M no strings attached.

We do seem to be trying to scrape as many funds together as we can. Maybe Flo fancies having a serious go at landing Mbappé.

We’re yet to see the best of Brandon’s attacking play for the seniors.

In the last couple of weeks we saw a little more, including him working as an inside left/left sided AM when we have extended periods of possession.

The lad is actually a very good dribbler and a tidy finisher, and scored a lot of goals for the U18s and U23s making runs with and without the ball from deep and finishing with his right foot from the kind of areas Martial likes to shoot from.

He’s spent at least the last three seasons playing exclusively at leftback, and I don’t expect to see him switching sides any time soon.

I get people’s concerns about spending big on Grealish but I think he could be great at OT
