Far from his perfect squad. It was one of the most unfit in the league, lacked the quality in the defence to play out from the back, with many of them being unsuited to a back 3/5 and didn’t have the right profile in midfield that Conte likes. He’d have to spend £300m plus to get it where he’d like it. Then have a paddy when Woodward inevitably facked things up. I’m so glad we didn’t get Conte. Would have been a disaster.

But Conte’s clearly talking shiiiiit about it being the best squad in the league. He’s a very good coach, but there were clearly fundamental problems in that squad that would not suit Conte. Which is why he’s spend a fortune fixing it - buying a lot of average players in the process - before having a meltdown. The players would have hated him as well. They quite clearly didn’t respond well to Mourinho’s hardline management. They’re soft.

Yeah we are. But we’ve wasted a lot of money on his transfer. Firstly by swapping an asset of some value, then by paying him a lot of money to pay like a cuuuunt and now by releasing without a transfer fee. Worst signing in our history.
