I only realised earlier today after reading an article that in each of the last five summer transfer windows we have signed a player from a team that had just been relegated, a pattern that started under Rodgers and that Klopp has continued.
2015 - Danny Ings (Burnley)
2016 - Georginio Wijnaldum (Newcastle)
2017 - Andrew Robertson (Hull)
2018 - Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke)
2019 - Harvey Elliott (Fulham)
2020 - Jamal Lewis (Norwich) ?
I knew we had obviously signed some players from relegated teams but didn't realise we had done this for five years in a row, potentially six if we sign Lewis. And you've got to say it has worked out well so far!
Are there are any other players from the relegated teams that you would take this summer?

What? How dare you? After GB's Welcome to Anfield. [Timo Werner, M'Bappe, etc...] now they are talking about taking from the relegated teams <laugh

Well like I say, signing players from relegated teams has worked out pretty well for us.

Thought you bought well with Shaquiri...even though he hasn't featured much

Yeah Shaqiri has contributed enough for me to make it a worthwhile signing at the relativity low price we got him for. I'd like to see him stay and get more minutes next season but who knows. The only one from my list that didn't really work out was Ings and that was bad luck with injuries really. But we still made a profit on him. Obviously we don't know how Elliott is going to turn out yet but he has shown promise despite his young age.

you'll make a big profit with elliott and shaqiri's game against barca was worth the cost alone.

Yep the cross for the equaliser and then his little involvement in the winner making it look like he was walking over to take the corner.
