RIP big Tam

Sad to read of the passing of Tam Forsyth. Reading he was 71 makes me feel old, having watched him play.

Old fashioned, hard as nails defender and as far as I can remember, an honest pro and good guy all round.

I remember 2 things in particular about him playing. A superb tackle against England when he was tracking back. If he didn`t get it right, the England player would have landed in row Z instead of the ball.

Also when he almost fluffed a tap-in against Celtic.

RIP Tam

Motherwell had another one round about that time, 78-80, but his name escapes me. Real big thug. Was married to my French teacher. Anyone remember? Maybe Wullie McVie?

He was a tough one too like Forsyth but that Peter Miller was just an animal. Blond haired guy.

That's where he stayed when he was getting Scotland caps. My sis was a couple of doors down.

It might help us remember if you described the French teacher. What she wore, size of diddies etc.

Can still remember vividly

Bleached blonde, too much make up, was good looking already, and perfume, decent diddies. I was 13-14. Wouldn`t be my type now, although at the same time, can`t be be too choosey.

Hope that helps.

Rip tam - I saw the treble side of 78 playing, Davie cooper etc. Mcloy, Jardine , Grieg, Forsyth, Jackson etc - Forsyth was brilliant in that back line.

So many legends in that team. I remember always looking forward to his slide tackles. At least one per game. So we'll timed. Ball first, then player lol. That player was in tams pocket after that.

He was brilliant for Scotland at that time too. Big Tam, Gordon McQueen, Sandy Jardine and Danny Mcgrain.

What a defence!
