After the horrible Floyd death at the hands of a cop, BLM encouraged sports people to become political.
We all want racism gone from football and there is no place for race baiting at grounds or at work....we have laws and education programmes in the UK to ensure equality.
Racism does exist in the UK from white police here, like white civilians, Asians can be racist towards white and black people, and Black power nationalists can be racist against white people.
Regarding the OF, I remember Mark Walters thirty uears ago getting racist abuse, right up to Morelos today.
In Glasgow and Scotland, sectarianism is as much if not more of an issue, along with tribal politics on issues such as the Tories, Indy, English people, Israel, Irish or British identity.
We have seen guys here justify use of slurs such as hunn, while attacking anything to do with Rangers or loyalists, and similar with haters of anything green or nationalist.
Sectarianism and hard line leftist, republican, unionist, or far right views and chants are still about in OF circles, so should this form of "hate crime" be addressed alongside the BLM issue?
Bringing American racial identity politics to Glasgow, when sectarianism and political tribalism is alive and well, is perhaps s distraction from the elephant in the room.....for over a century.
We should also be able to debate, rather than hate...and stop shutting conversations down because we dislike a topic.
