With the 2nd qualifying round draw on Monday, the qualifiers are now know.
Two questions:
> How seriously should / will Spurs take this competition ?
> Illogical seeding still leaves me scratching my head.
For example:
Celtic, whose co efficient is well below Spurs, get beat in CL by some
minnows, and are rewarded with a place in the 3rd Qualifying round.
One higher than Spurs.
> Real Sociedad. 6th in Spain league ( same as Spurs ) but straight into
groups stages.
> Sivasspor. 4th in Turkish League ( who are miles behind England in co
efficient. Rewarded with a place straight into group stage.
> Nice. 5th in French league ( who are well behind England in co efficient )
straight into group stage.
> 1899 Hoffenheim. 6th in German league ( same as Spurs ) straight into
group stage.
> Rotsov. 5th in Russian league ( again miles behind England in co
efficient ) But straight into 3rd qualifying round. One higher than Spurs.
There are several more examples that just don't make sense and will impact on other important early season games.
Should the first team be used during qualifying to sent a statement, or take our chances with the reserves to be good enough to get us through.

in the other leagues the team 8th in the league rarely win the domestic cup

What statement would it send, and to whom, if your first team battered Sivasspor 4-0?

======
In England 6th isn't even a Europa place - you have to rely on one of the top 5 winning one of the domestic cups.
The comparables for Spurs are Granada (same round), Wolfsburg (same round) etc.

An English fan complaining about qualification to Europe?
The rich leagues dominate Europe these days, and the Champions League, is now simply the big leagues of Europe cup rather than actual champions league.

I understand what you are saying mate but europa league is not 6th place ours is cup competitions. The arguement to be made like it or not is that we should not even be there ourselves.
We are a big draw across the teams in the europa europe teams will see us as ex champions league finalist.
Should be fun, gruelling but a good chance to blood players.
