Publicly they may have said that, but privately different story.

I'd imagine wont take much more than our latest offer of €20m to wrap up the deal.
€20m - €25m (+ potentially Tomori) for a club like Rennes is substantial to reinvest, especially as they only bought Mendy for €4m.

A lot of Rennes fans on twitter saying they'd be gutted if left even for €50m. Reims supporters claiming that he was already one of the very best GK in Ligue 1. According to L’Equipe Mendy was indeed close second best GK in the league behind Navas.
He appears to have good positioning, quick reflexes and be quite vocal towards the defenders in front of him, but he constantly parries it away even if it looks as though it could have been simple to catch and hold.
