Ronaldo international record

49 goals since his 30th birthday 5 years ago, 101 in total.

Englands all time record goalscorer, Rooney with 53.

Crazy.

Ok. Wasn't just that. The missing 'of' in 'a couple points', the 'gonna', the odd use of UCL instead of the simpler 'CL' which is universally recognisable, or the use of 'CR7'. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with any of those expressions individually or with being American, mind. It's just that the overall impression of all of them together made me wonder.

3-peat sounds so much better than ‘3 consecutive’.

Well, it doesn't to us English people, but don't let that stop you.

Is he the guy who started talking about 'clutch' players once?

Still not got a fecking clue what that means.

Yea that’s him and lists the Charity Shield and UEFA Super Cup as major ‘titles’

Proper athlete.

Proper technician.

Played in his best position most of his career.

The goal scoring comparison with Rooney is, however, slightly misleading.

Rooney was never the athlete Ronaldo was/is, and genetics was always going to deal with him earlier.

And he was never truly allowed to play in his best position for club or country.

That plus, of course, Ronaldo is far and away the most complete (attacking) footballer the world has ever seen

^^^

Forgot to conclude that when both were playing for United, Rooney was the more influential and valuable player to the team and club
