If anyone needs a definition of woke, check out the latest series of Dr Who. It's so "diverse" it's become a parody of "diverse". And it has the lowest viewing figures of Dr Who ever.
Top gear. Was far too white and heterosexual so Jeremy Clarkson and the rest dumped for a "diverse" presenting team. The result, viewing figures destroyed and programme effectively ended.
I have nothing against better representation of the population on our TV screens but it needs to be done with the introduction of new shows and not in such a hamfisted, PC, woke, sledgehammer , racist, sexist, ageist way.
And now we have A Question of Sport. One of the BBC's longest running shows. Sue Barker has been treated disgracefully. We now have Alex Scott. I have nothing against the woman personally but I think she is naive in taking the job. It is as blatent as box ticking "diversity" garbage as you can get. Has the woman no dignity or self respect whatsoever? She is prepared to step into a dead woman's shoes (metaphorically) happy in the knowledge she got the job because she is non-male and non-White.
This is not the way to get better representation of minorities on TV. It is too blunt an instrument and too obvious. Most important, it is UNFAIR. On Sue Barker at least.
The BBC is taking for granted its core audience and the silent majority in trying to pander to the young PC, woke, Netflix generation.
The Last Night of the Proms debacle showed how out of touch the BBC is with its license payers.
Forgive the early Sunday morning rant but the BBC as state broadcaster shapes society and I think this warrants discussion and criticism.
Let's have a meritocracy and reward people's individual talents and achievements rather than pander to the evil, woke, identity politics of the left.
