Luke Shaw

"As I said, we have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad. It can give us a boost. When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others."

He’s probably quite happy to be a squad player.

It’s telling when the players are making these types of noises though, the squad want reinforcements to kick on as a team.

Food for thought, if you like

Unlikely to go down well with some at United and I wouldn't be surprised if he got a bit of a telling off from Ole for saying that although deep down he'll obviously wholeheartedly agree.

...........

Unless Ole doesn’t agree with this then he will be OK with it/. It is something he can’t say in public himself.

.........

The amusing thing is Shaw may well get his wish however lose his place in the side in the process.

.......

Not sure we will be signing a replacement for Shaw. More likely to be a back up.

Back up to start with, but we shouldn’t be looking at anybody that’s not good enough to displace Shaw from the first team if they can stay fit all season.

Even if Ole agrees with it I'd be surprised if he didn't have a word with Shaw anyway or been told to by somebody above him.

It depends on who we bring in but if it is Alex Telles I don't think he's going to be a back up.

Isn’t Telles likely to go to PSG? I read we have 3 LB targets this summer, the first went to Spurs, the second likely to PSG but no idea who the third is?

Any LB who can play 20+ games is gonna be a replacement for Shaw.

By the sound of it he's more likely to join us at the moment given it's been said we've already agreed a contract with him but obviously anything can still happen at this stage.

His position is the one I've never played in. And it is, perhaps, the most difficult one to play in - or find someone to play in.

Trying to find a way of dealing with troublesome right wingers is not pleasant and generally very fruitless. Ashley Coles methodology, for instance, involved quite a lot of ..... ahem ..... simulation. Quite a feat for a defender.

But if I was Shaw, I'd be pretty pi$$ed off at having to do my own job whilst also having to do 3/4s of lindelof, bailly or rojo's job as well.

He's right of course and more, not less, people need to start pointing fingers.

I'd get Keane in just to do that job. Send him out to the training ground and sack every one he points at.

It might be the only way we can get rid of Rashford for example.

The third on the list is Evra
