PL Net spend so far + your 10 best signings

The current net spend for teams this summer based on the figures given in the Guardian.

Chelsea -130m
Leeds United -90m
Aston Villa -78m
Liverpool -60m
Everton -59m
Tottenham Hotspur -45m
Newcastle United -35m
Manchester United -35m
Sheffield United -30m
West Brom - 29m
Leicester -28.5m
Fulham -26m
Manchester City -23m
Arsenal -23m
Southampton -2m
Burnley 0m
Crystal Palace +4m
West Ham +8.5m
Brighton +20m
Wolves +26m

The standouts for me are:

1.Chelsea miles out in front and with at least a goalkeeper still to join.
2.Leeds United are spending a lot of money, i'm not overly impressed with the players they have bought but they are designed to fit the system so will probably do well.
3. Aston Villa spending heavily again to avoid relegation, the keeper will solve a problem position for them but the other 3 buys are untested at this level, they have to be better than last seasons poor signings though.
4. Liverpool have added two very good signings and spent more than it seemed they would only a week or so ago. Have to be favourites now if anyone had City above them before.
5. Everton have done fantastic business, massively upgrading the midfield.
6. Spurs have done some impressive business and if reports are true about a new CB and CF they are back in the mix.
7. United surely have a lot of business still to do but the lack of signings is worrying at this stage.
8. Leicester playing it safe so far this summer.
9. Manchester City well under the levels of spending expected. Do they have big moves still to make, their fans must hope so. I think their squad is worse than last year.
10. Arsenal have really improved their squad for a relative pittance. Wheeling and dealing like prime Harry Redknapp. Still a midfielder to come in too.

Who are the 10 best new signings this summer? I will go with the below.

1. Gareth Bale
2. Thiago Alcantara
3. James Rodriguez
4. Donny Van de Beek
5. Timo Werner
6. Kai Havertz
7. Allan
8. Hakim Ziyech
9. Sergio Reguillon
10. Fabio Silva

Gareth Bale as no1 is a gamble but he's the most exciting player i've watched in England ever, if he can get to the levels he was at last time he will be the best signing by a long distance.

Thiago is pure class, exactly the player Liverpool needed.

James Rodriguez has shown already he's here to prove something and he's a joy to watch.

Van de Beek was pure class at Ajax, his QF and SF performances were of the highest quality, will soon be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Werner and Havertz haven't hit the ground running but both will come good. Ziyech another who will be a joy to watch.

Allan mainly because he will allow James do what he's best at.

Reguillon will give Spurs another dimension they haven't had since Danny Rose was at his peak.

Fabio Silva, i don't know much about him but 35m for an 18yo is crazy for Wolves so he really must be special.

Let the arguing commence.

how is chelsea's net spend this summer £130 million when they have spent close to £250 million and I'm not aware of them selling anyone
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Morata was sold this summer and so was Palasic and the spend is around 200m
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its around 250 including Mendy
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So - £50m for Mendy!!!

Where do some people get their information from!

The top 10 list of best signings this summer seems to be the one's who have captured the most media attention rather than "the best". Obviously I agree with some like Bale, Thiago, James Rodriguez, etc.

Emiliano Martinez could prove to be one heck of a signing for Villa in terms of their season for instance.

Chelsea have spent £250m but Liverpool have only spent about 30 quid of their signings’ full fees, it’s funny how the mind of a Liverpool fan works.

How often do Wolves get transfers wrong?
====
Quite regularly.

Cutrone, Afobe, Bonatini, Miranda, Mir are a few. They are run like a top Portuguese club, buy in bulk, hope enough turn out good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you can only really class Cutrone and Miranda as us getting it wrong. Bonatini was top goalscorer in our promotion season and cost us £5 million. I think that's a good deal.

Adobe we loaned to give us more options in the championship with an obligation to buy. Got promoted, signed him for £10 million and then sold him for £12 million to Stoke the same summer. I would class that as good business.

Mir we signed for a few million and has spent his whole time out on loan in Spain. He is now playing in La Liga and we stand to make a profit when he moves on. Has attracted interest from quite a few La Liga teams for when his 18 month loan ends.

Even Cutrone looked ok to be fair. He just got homesick and never settled.

Nelson Semedo has the potential to be a great signing, will suit us perfectly. He and Traore on the same side will give LBs kittens

Semedo’s crap going forward.

What are you going on about? The structures of our deals have been published so we know we’ve paid very little up front, so no idea what your point is?
